One Week Later

Justin's POV

After her incident last week, things have been kind of awkward at home. Audri and I  haven't been arguing or anything but we also haven't necessarily been friendly with one another. She stayed out of my way and I stayed out of hers. We only really interacted when Levi wanted to play.

Today we have an appointment with Dr. Paige but Audri was gone when I woke up. I'm not even sure she was here last night. She's been sneaking off after dinner and I'm not sure where she's been going.

I reached over to the nightstand to feel around for my phone.

I scrolled through my phone checking to see if I had any messages or missed calls from Audri. None. I tapped on her name and pressed the call button.

After about five rings, I hung up in frustration and tried again. I repeated this action three times before I sent her a text reminding her that we had an appointment at 10 am.

After I hung up I texted Chaley to make sure it was ok if I dropped Levi off so I could make it to our appointment. I assumed she didn't know where Audri was so I didn't bother to ask.  I waited for her to reply before I got up and went to get Levi and myself fed and dressed.

"Ma-ma," he slapped his hands against the railing as I stepped into the room.

"Sorry buddy, your mama isn't here. You're stuck with me," I picked him up.

He giggled as I tossed him in the air.

"You ready to eat?" I put him down so I could get his breakfast ready.

"Yummy! Mama left oatmeal," I said placing him in his chair.

I heated the food and made sure the temperature was just right.

After about 2 minutes of me trying to get him to use his spoon, I finally gave up as he protested.

"Fine, get messy," I laughed at my 17-month-old.

Instead of me dropping Levi off at Chaley's apartment, she came over to watch him. I assured her that I wouldn't be long as I grabbed my keys and headed out the door.

Before I made it out of the door she stopped me, "hey, where's Audri?"

"If you figure it out, let me know," I shrugged pulling the door closed behind me.

Entering the building that morning was more nerve-wracking that morning. Walking down the halls with the faint sound of morning chatter and the clicking of heels against the tiled floors. I stepped onto the elevator and I was very relieved to be alone. I watched as the red digital numbers changed, indicting which floor the elevator was on.

I sat down in my usual seat watching the clock as Dr. Paige stared at the empty chair next to me.

"Well, I guess we should get started," she sighed.

It was exactly 10:01 and there was no sign of my wife. Hmm. Wife. We hadn't seemed like much of a couple since we got married.

"Is everything going well with you two?" Dr. Paige asked as she eyed the empty seat next to me.

It was obvious to me that she knew things weren't going well but I assumed she was trying to get me to tell her why Audri wasn't here.

"I don't know where she is and to be completely honest I don't really know how things are going," I shrugged for what felt like the millionth time today. "When we're arguing, at least I know what she's thinking but things have been extremely awkward at home," I ranted.
