New Life

(It's September 10th now.)

Montreal isn't terrible, of course I prefer Miami but, the world doesn't revolve around me as my mom says. Last week, I discovered that Nate doesn't live in Montreal so at first I didn't have any friends but now, I've made a few friends, my closest one is named Raelyn, she sits at my table in art and it's like we clicked immediately. But, me and Kylie have only talked once, and I started the conversation and she ended it. Rae's so chill to hang out with, and she really values our friendship and shit, like I did something stupid to her that I should've apologized for, but she apologized first, and I don't know, she's just really sweet, and funny, she could keep me laughing for hours. She has a little group of friends, she asked me to go to the mall and meet them.

  I walked outside of my house to see Rae waiting for me. She had just turned 16.

"Hey girl hey!" I said a little too enthusiastically.

"Gross please don't." She laughed.

"You're making fun of me!

"I'm not, just you sounded really white." When she said that, it made both of us burst out laughing.

"We gon get some guys when we at the mall right?"

"You can, but not me."

"Why?"

"There's this guy that like, just broke my heart, so I'm not really interested in a relationship besides him, you know?"

"Jeez, I completely feel you. There was this guy, and we dated for like 2 years, and his closest best friend who I was also really close with, sent screenshots from my boyfriend's phone to me, of him cheating with multiple girls." Rae said looking at me.

"Damn, that shit sucks you know? Like, what gives them the right, to pull out fuckin hearts out, and stomp on them? Why do they do it? Do they wake up in the morning and be like, yeah I'm gonna completely ruin my relationship right now, and destroy my loyal girlfriends heart? It don't make sense man. Shit." I poured my heart out.

"Sounds like you've been cheated on by a dude too." She was still looking at me.

"Yeah, I don't really talk about it." I looked up at the road and noticed Rae was going into the other lane. "Bri!" I yelled and swerved the wheel to the right and we got back into our own lane.

"Oh shit." She laughed.

"Yeah, oh shit, you almost got us in a crash!"

"You're dramatic, we barely went in the other lane and there's like, no cars." When she said that, I looked into the other lane to see it almost bumper to bumper traffic,

"Really, barely any cars?" I pointed to the other lane

"Sh."

We finally got to the mall, safely, may I add.

"So who's all going to be there?" I asked.

"Well there's Emily, she has the maroon hair, dyed, obviously. There's Teagan, she's mixed, black curly hair with blonde highlights, basically the hair every black girl wants, hazel eyes. Then there's Liah, she has blonde straight hair, deep blue eyes, tan skin, basically what you could think of as a perfect white girl."
