Chapter 9:

“All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, you better run, better run! Faster than my bullet!” Caitlin and I shrieked out, singing along to our favorite song as we zoomed down the highway in her black Range Rover.

I smiled and leaned my head against the back of my seat. I couldn’t help but smile these days—I was so truly happy.

My mom just signed the contract with the owners of the house we were interested in, and we got it. She has been so happy recently and has been nonstop visiting the house. Everyday she and Sandi head to interior decorating shops to buy furniture for our new home, spending hours at a time.

I personally loved the house to death because it reminded me of our old house in Oklahoma. Most celebrities, if you wanted to consider myself one, buy huge mansions but we bought a cute house for our future guests and the two of us.

However, I haven’t been able to visit our house a lot recently because of my career. I have been nonstop working on season one with the cast and we are nearly finished with the last episode. As much fun as it was, I can’t wait for a break and for it to finally air on Disney.

“Hallie,” shrieked Caitlin, who was driving me to her house after today’s long day of work. With her eyes glued to the road, she motioned with her hand towards her purse, stating, “I think my phone just beeped! Can you check it for me?”

I rolled my eyes. “Do I look like a maid?”

Pursing her lips together and with her eyes twinkling she replied, “Yes, actually. And I demand you to get my phone out and read me my message.”

Grabbing her purse, I pulled out her hot pink iPhone. Plugging in her password, which I already knew, I read her messages to her out loud.

“Hayden said, ‘Finished surfing and now I’m chilling at your place. When are you coming home from shooting another episode?’”

“Tell him I’m on my way home,” she commanded. “Any other messages?”

Rolling my eyes at her bossiness, I glanced over the other messages.

“Two from Brogan, one from Payton, two from Cameron, and one from Christian.” I said as I typed out Caitlin’s response to Hayden.

“What did Christian say? He never texts me.”

Clicking on his name, I read, “He said, ‘Hurry home because we have a surprise for you.’

Caitlin turned into her neighborhood with a confused look on her face. “Surprise? I never get any surprises—not even on my birthday! I have always wanted a surprise birthday party but no—that is too much to ask for!”

Chuckling at how wound up she was acting, I locked her phone and placed it back in her purse. I glanced outside and realized that we had pulled up to her house, right near the garage.

As she parked the car, still rambling about her ‘surprise birthday party she has never received’, Mr. Beadles jogged up to us before we could get out of the car and head inside the house.

“Hey don’t get out of the car,” he stated in a rushed tone.

Caitlin immediately stopped rambling and then looked at her dad with a confused look on her face.
