Waking up that morning it felt like a normal boring Monday. I had to go to school and just like any other day, I was not looking forward to it. I had an algebra test that day which I forgot to study for because I was too busy shopping with my mom. I mean it’s not my fault that there was a sale at Forever 21 and my mom happens to know the manager! So I might fail the test, but this cute outfit is totally worth it! For all I knew this morning, it was going to be a normal boring day in Edmond, Oklahoma. Except for this day--the day my whole life changed.

“I completely failed that test!” exclaimed my best friend, Mia.

“Mia,” I said in an exasperated tone. “You never have failed a test—I don’t think you have gotten a ‘B’ in your life! If anyone failed, I did!”

Mia rolled her bright green eyes and continued walking to our next class, Physics. Her brown boots clicked along the tile floor as she scolded me.

“Well I actually reviewed my notes last night, while you were out shopping.” She said with a playful wiggle of her eyebrow. “Without me, might I add.”

I couldn’t help a chuckle escape my lips. “Someone is jealous of my new tank top.” I jokingly accused her.

“I’m not jealous because you are going to let me borrow it this weekend when we go to pick your brother up from the airport.” She said with a wink.

I rolled my eyes and started walking up the stair to the Science department of our high school. I knew that Mia had a crush on my brother—Greyson—really bad. He was nineteen years old and joined the army last year. It always hurt my mother that, despite his promising grades and athletic ability, he wanted to serve the country proudly. He mainly chose it because my father, who I never got the chance to meet, died in battle before I was ever born. Yeah, it hurts that I never knew my dad, but I grew up believing my brother was my father—mainly because he always had my back and cared for me like I suppose a father would care for his daughter.

“Hallie? You okay?” asked Mia, as she waved a hand in front of my face. I looked up at her to see a worried look on her face.

I shrugged it off. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Are you nervous about the call-backs?” she asked as we reached our destination: the Physics classroom.

At the sound of “call backs” a shiver ran down my spine, causing me to shake. Ever since I was little, I always wanted to be an actress. I grew up watching my godmother perform in shows and ever since, I always wanted to be like her. Whenever I was on stage performing, I felt like I was home. I felt like I could be myself and just relax.

Well my mom, who I am very close with, hired me a personal manager to help me with my career. Ever since I was little, I did acting courses and singing classes, and everyone that watched me perform would tell me I was a natural. That is how we met Kelsi, my personal manager, who went to one of my many performances. She was immediately blown away and gave my mother her card, saying how happy she would be to help me with my career.

Since we hired Kelsi about a year ago, I have given many auditions to many shows throughout the nation. It hurt that I had only been to three callbacks out of the thousands of shows, but we are hoping that the newest show I auditioned for will accept me for the callback.

The show was called Combined Chaos, which was an upcoming show on Disney Channel. This was by far the most excited I have been about a show—which Kelsi thinks would help my acting.

The show was about two families that both suffered through divorce. Years later, the man of one family meets the women in the other family, and they become madly in love and marry years later. The show takes place after the marriage, and the new couple must introduce their daughters and sons to each other, combining their households and becoming one big ‘happy’ family.
