Forgiveness

Maya's POV
So from that day on Zay, Charlie and I sat with each other at lunch every day we could. Riley seemed to get that I needed a little bit of space, but I still went to pick her up and walked to classes with her. I think the reason she was a little more understanding than she probably normally would be was because Farkle was talking to her more now that I'm not there at lunch. Farkle seems fine, after that scare and lesson about money that we had last week he has been really keen on figuring out ways to help others. He's been quiet, though very quiet.

Maybe because you and Zay leave him to watch Riley and Lucas, I thought to myself as I started to put things away into my locker.

Hmmm, I need to ask Zay and Charlie if we can let him sit with us sometimes, I continue to think as I close my locker and nod nimbly to what Riley babbled on about.

As she talked I looked around the hallway. Farkle and Lucas were watching Riley talk laughing as she waved her arms around almost hitting Zay in the process.

That girl when will she learn to control her limbs I thought to myself fondly as I laughed and shook my head as she started to apologize profusely to him.

"Hey," a voice behind me said.

"Hey Cheese Soufflé," I said teasingly to him.

"You're never gonna let that go are you," he said to me.

"Nope already made t-shirts," I said to him teasingly, as I bumped my shoulder with his.

"She never lets go of nicknames you'll get used to it," Lucas said as he looked over at us, with a look of forced happiness.

I narrowed my eyes at that.

Note to self-ask huckleberry if he's okay, I thought to myself.

"That we agree on," Charlie said to Lucas with a fake smile.

"Well then, you say hi to them but you don't say to me, I'm offended Cheese Soufflé," Zay said to break the newfound tension.

"Oh not you, too," Charlie groaned out as he turned to Zay and did their little handshake that they made up while I was gone talking to Riley.

"Yep he's my partner in crime so of course, I got him to call you by your little nickname," I said to him teasingly as I punched Zay's arm.

"I thought I was your partner in crime," Riley said to me with mock sadness.

"No you have been replaced" I teased her teasingly causing us to stop and look at each other, and then laugh our heads off.

"But no you haven't been replaced, you'll always be my sister, and my original partner in crime, honey," I said as I opened my arms for a hug, which of course Riley went in for a hug,

"Awe," the guys said as we hugged.

"Welp history we go," I said as I grabbed Charlie's and Zay's wrist and dragged them to class.

And here I thought today wouldn't be a lesson day, I said to myself as I sat down.

"Why do you have forgiveness on the board Matthews," I asked my father like figure.
