It's Nothing Bad, I Promise

You and Roc have been best friends for the longest. You are 18 and he is 17. He is the one you tell everything to. He knows when you're angry and try to hide it, he knows when something is bothering you, he even knows when your "aunt" comes to visit every month.

Just as Roc knows all about you, you know all about him. You know when he's upset, or just frustrated. You can read him like an open first grade book. You know everything that he has been through and he's had some rough times in life.

When one of you feel alone you go to the other to feel loved. If the something drastic happens to Roc you are the first person he tells, and vice versa. That's how close you guys are.

As you got into you mid-teen years you grew feelings for Roc. You knew what type of feelings they were you just didn't want to acknowledge them. It felt weird for you to have those type of feelings for your best friend so you just ignored them completely. It was pretty easy too. It's like as long as you're with him hanging out you were ok. His presence was all you needed.

Today you guys were going to simply chill at your house.

Your P.O.V.

He pulled up and the only reason I knew he was here was because I heard his music all the way from inside the house. He was playing a song from Eminem's new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

"I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed", I sang softly and quietly as I walked out to Roc's car. As I was walking out he was just pulling into the drive way. I looked at him and thought to myself, 'Oh wow Roc is really hood, look at the way he sitting with his seat ALL the way back and only ONE hand on the wheel. He is a hood n*gga for real.' I laughed to myself at my own thoughts. When he noticed I was laughing he looked to me put his car in park and said "What's so funny?" while remaining in his seat.

I shook my head and walked over to the car then said, "Come on get out and let's go inside." He shook his head no and said "Nope" while popping the 'p' , "I ain't getting out till you tell me what's so funny.

Trying to trick him I turn back towards my house and say, "Oh well guess you gotta go back home because I ain't telling". He started the engine back up and I turned right back around signaling him to stop. He laughs and sticks his head out the window to say, "Oh so now you want to tell me?" I thought for a second using a fake thinking face and then nodded.

"So why were you laughing again?" he asks me. "Well I was basically laughing because of the way you drive. I was thinking to myself 'Oh wow Roc is really hood, look at the way he sitting with his seat ALL the way back and only ONE hand on the wheel. He is a hood n*gga for real' and that is why I laughed."

He laughed while getting out if the car and says, "Yeah, I'm that hood n*gga, now give this hood n*gga a hug". I walked over to him hesitantly and gave him a hug. "Why you hug me like that?" he asks. "Well I don't want your girl tripping on me for hugging you. She already doesn't like me, and I don't want to give her another reason to dislike me", I reply.

"Don't even worry about her, Y/N, me her broke up last week. We just weren't too compatible and decided to go our separate ways", he tells me. "Well in that case", I say and jump on him with my legs wrapped around him, "best friend hug". He gave a nervous chuckle and says "Yea, best friend hug." I ignored the chuckle and led him into the house.

Roc's P.O.V.

"Don't even worry about her, Y/N, me and her broke up last week. We just weren't compatible and decided to go our separate ways", I say to Y/N. But what she doesn't know is that Draya and I broke up because of her. Draya could tell that I had feelings for Y/n and decided to let our relationship go. She said and I quote "Roc, I can tell that you love and care about me just like I love and care about you. But you're not in love with me and I don't want to force our relationship. I can tell by the way you look at Y/N that you're in love with her. Now we just have to wait for her to see it." With that Draya and I parted ways.
