Ch. 16 ~His Maiden, Vanishes~

There was a loud crash in the manor. It was now almost late at night as Ciel was getting ready for bed. He had thrown a brush at the mirror, leaving it cracked and broken. "Young master?" Claude asked as Ciel breathed in and out heavily. "What's the matter?" "I thought I saw Alois in the mirror." Ciel calmly said. "Are you hurt, young master?" Claude asked while checking over him. "No.." Ciel said. Claude looked at Hannah. "Hannah, clean this up. I'll take the young master to his bedchamber and-" "No, you clean up here." Ciel interrupted. Claude looked down at his surprised. "Young master..?" Ciel released himself from Claude and motioned Hannah to follow him. "Come along, Hannah." Claude watched them leave, but before then earned an eerie smirk from Hannah. As soon as the door closed, Claude glared...

Ciel's room was lightly lit from the candles and Ciel was sitting in his bed while Hannah was next to his bedside. It was quiet between the two of them until Hannah broke it. "Young master?" she asked. Ciel let out a sigh. "I hate this mansion. I want to go home." "To the Phantomhive manor?" Hannah asked. "No, I want to go back to the way things were... everything..." Ciel said as he hid his face into his folded arms as they rested on his knees. Just from that one word--everything-- Hannah knew what and who he was talking about.

"Young master... do you despise your sister?" she asked and Ciel looked up at her curiously. They were back to being silent as they studied each other and they could hear the cricket sounds outside. "No, but..." Ciel trailed off. "Her being a demon... it scares me..." he said and Hannah looked at him surprised. "She's deadly quite and so mysterious... she might be a silent, deadly killer for all I know..." "Young master, Mystery has kept you safe all this time, and she stood up to you to take charge because I believe she thinks she's not doing enough to be an older sibling..." Hannah said and Ciel stared at her. 

Ciel hadn't seen Mystery all day as she was in her own room in solitude. He remembered Claude mentioning to him to not pay his sister any visits because she was dangerous. Ciel was so confused on who to believe, demons were mischievous. Hannah knew Ciel wanted to get off of the subject and she directed him to look closely as she pointed at her mouth. She opened her mouth wide and Ciel stared in shock as he saw his other blue eye in her mouth. He could even see himself. Ciel screamed at the sight and felt dizzy. Ciel fainted and collapsed on his bed. Hannah closed her mouth and caressed his cheek. 

"Yes. This is your eye... Master..."

The room was dark but the moon shining from the window. Mystery no longer sat in any corners of the room. She laid on the room's bed and had her eyes shut. Although demons didn't sleep, Mystery still tried to and was used to it since she was once human and loved to sleep. She wouldn't completely sleep but she felt more calm and refreshed from doing so. Mystery could still feel that annoying spider's stare on her as she slept. 

From before, the spider was near the corner where she last sat. Now, since she was laying on the bed curled in a ball, the spider had moved to its other web. The web was on the ceiling above her, watching her. Claude was really messing with her nerves...

A knock was heard on her door, but Mystery didn't answer. The door opened and Mystery slowly opened her eyes and was ready to glare if it was Claude, but her eyes didn't when she saw it was Hannah. Mystery slowly sat up, with her cloak still around her with the hood down. "Mystery," Hannah said, "There's something you must know..." Mystery stayed quiet and still stared at her, listening to what Hannah had to say to her...
