Lydia Martin: the girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders.

Lydia has always been that type of friend that was there for you when you least expected her to be. She had a heart of gold, even after all she's been through. Sure, she hasn't always been like that, but to see her turn out the way she did left me baffled. After all of the death and despair she's been through, she still managed to keep that smile on her face, even when everything was crumbling.

She was the person that would do anything to save her friends. She went from selfish to selfless in a matter of time and certain life changing events; along with changing how people perceived her. At one time, all she cared about what her popularity and being the next Prom queen candidate, but now, she couldn't care less. She focused on her friends and how to help people, rather than to pay attention to the kids that now laughed at her when she walked their way.

Yes, Lydia Martin was something you'd call a miracle; both because she's survived numerous occasions that were pure luck, and her change in character was something no one, not even me, expected. She was a living, breathing, walking miracle.

But I guess soon she'd lose her luck.

Despite everything the strawberry blonde has done for me, like save my life numerous times and ignite hope within me when it was diminishing, it all was a distant memory in my mind. Whatever it was that Stiles did to me, it was like having a new pair of eyes; it was like showing me the truth. What he did to me dug up a darkness inside of me that I didn't know existed, and I wallowed in it.

I enjoyed it.

I felt powerful for a change. I had this confidence that made me feel like I was on top of the world, and I didn't want it to ever go away. Despite knowing what I had to do, I didn't care. I was willing to take away a life if it meant to always feel like this.

"Way to leave me yet again in the middle of the night," I hear Allison say behind me as I stop, taking a second to finally turn around. People continue to chatter around us in the school hall as I stare at her silently for a moment, almost forgetting about her.

I hike my bag up higher on my shoulders. "Yeah, sorry about that. John had called me wondering where I was so I went home. I didn't want to wake you."

"It's okay, Corey," she says with a faint smile, the curls in her hair bouncing slightly on her shoulders. "But next time, just wake me up, okay? I can sacrifice a few minutes of sleep."

My eyes catch Scott walking behind Allison as I watch him, not seeing Lydia anywhere near him. "Deal."

I start to walk around her to go look for the strawberry blonde, but before I could get away, Allison was grabbing my arm, stopping me. "Corey, is there something wrong? You're acting weird."

I look back at her, shaking my head. I just wanted to get away from her. "I'm fine-"

"You did it again," she cuts me off, her eyes narrow. "You did that jaw thing; the thing you only do when you lie."

The spit thickens in my mouth, but she didn't scare me. "Allison, I'm fine. Just let me go."

"Corey-"

I rip my arm away from her then, seeing the look of hurt on her face before I'm walking away, not daring to stick around for another second. I swear, she never learns to shut her mouth. Something deep down inside of me screamed at me to turn around and to apologize, but the other told me to keep walking.

I kept walking.

I didn't find Lydia until between second and third hour.
