Cressida Leopoldo mood board.
"Fuck."
"Such a mouth on you." Charlotte sighed in disgust. She looked up disappointingly, past her iPhone to glare across the restaurant table towards her foul mouthed child. Only for a moment before returning her gaze to her phone.
"Sorry.. I'm only frustrated. I'm trying to get these essays done so I can start at Randolph on time. Its a pain because I didn't exactly finish high school." Cressida sighed but didn't bother to meet her mother's torrid expression. Her attention stayed consumed with the education forms. She had them scattered messily all over the small table which was draped in an elegant cream silk cloth.
"Oh why are you worrying about that?" Charlotte scoffed feeling embarrassed at her daughters mess at such an upscale establishment. It was the kind of busy luncheonette you book reservations at six years in advance. Although for the Leopold family it was a different story.
"Your dad plays golf with the Dean Cress, you have nothing to worry about. You're already in. Eat your lobster."
"I'm in?" Cressida furrowed her brow at her mother. She stopped her manicured hands in mid air above the table, forms still in grasp. "You've watched me comb over my essays for three days, why didn't you say anything?"
"Busy work was a good distraction for you while we finish getting unpacked at the new house in Carlisle." Charlotte sighed not a hint of guilt in her polite tone as she continued to daintily eat her lunch. "Besides you needed to get back into writing, you haven't touched the pen since god only knows when. You're such a talent.. You haven't touched your calamari either."
"Sorry, I just haven't felt creative since Alisa went missing." Cressida crinkled her nose in annoyance. She felt that her mother refused to acknowledge things that were out of their everyday life plan. Pretending events that she didn't control every aspect of simply didn't exist." My creativity kind of went out the door when she disappeared."
"Cressida I don't want to talk about that, please don't ruin our meal." Charlotte sighed into her wine glass. She needed the tart raspberry taste on her tongue, Even more the numb buzz that hugged her body after the liquid spilled into her bloodstream.
"Don't want to talk about what? The fact that my best friend is gone without a trace and no one any where can seem to find her?" Cressida's voice cracked as she squeaked the words out.
"Keep your voice down, do not make a scene." Charlotte sighed pressing a hand to her throbbing temple. "Cress that happened over three years ago you're not seventeen anymore. I don't want to hear about that troublesome girl anymore. You've been mourning a girl whom for all we know ran off with some older boy to elope in the Cayman Islands. She may be no where to be found but you're the one who's checked out. You're just now back to a good place. Why ruin it? So help me, you're not going to spiral again."
