Sun pours through my bedroom window. I lie in my bed, seaking refuge from the outside world. I glance over at the clock on my nightstand.

6:00

'I'll never be able to go back to sleep.' I sigh, roll from my covers, and onto the floor. I pad my way over to my connecting bathroom.

I look in the mirror and a seventeen year old girl stares back at me. She looks tired, worn down. She has long, dark brown hair, a slim figure that resembles an hourglass. What's best about her is her eyes. They are odd, with their various colors, creating rainbows in her eyes. Doctors say it's a deformation, considering neither of her parents have rainbow eyes.

I strip from my clothes and jump into the shower. I stand under the heat of the water for more than an hour, letting it soothe my muscles.

When I'm done I turn the shower off and get out. I didn't bring clothes with me, I walk back to my room. My bedroom door is locked, so I don't bother with a towel.

My room is my sanctuary. Its taken two gallons of black paint, various other colors of paint for splatters, a jagged rug with fabric sticking out, a lot of Christmas lights strung around my bedroom ceiling, and countless death threats made towards Daniel, my best friend, to help me.

In honesty sake, I love my room. Me being seventeen, I won't be at home with my parernts, forever. I figure that I might as well leave my parents something to look at when I'm gone. And, boy, did I.

After I dress, I make my way downstairs to the kitchen. I grab an apple from the bowl on the table. Looking over at the stove, I see what time it is.

7:20

My parents are going to be waking up soon. They always wake up around 7:30, but I never, really, see them. My dad, Kalvin Tess, is a businessman. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not even home now. My mom, Lucy, is a nurse. She works the night shift at the local hospital. If I'm lucky, I'll find mom coming home during the early hours of the morning, or I might catch my dad before he leaves on another business trip, if I'm lucky. Which is rare when it comes to my parents.

When the clock hits 7:30, I know it's time to leave for school. I hear my parents walking down the stairs, I don't have time to say, "Hi, or bye," or I will be late. Not something I want to be on my first day.

Today's my first day of my old school. What I mean by that is, my dad travels, a lot. His traveling sometimes causes us to move with him. I used to go to this school, Braylance Elite High School, my freshman year. That's how I met Daniel, well sort of. Daniel's dad, Mathew Kree, works for the same company as my dad. Mathew, also, is in the same branch of business as my father, which makes them travel and move the same places. I don't consider it a bad thing, more like a stroke of luck, since Daniel's my best friend and he goes wherever I go, quite literally.
