11: Kill the Fun

Emmett and I made our way through the crowd towards the Forest. "I heard it's going to be modeled after the movie. You know, the one with the girl and she gets lost in the forest in Japan? The Forest?"

"Aokigahara," I corrected him with a smirk. "Suicide Forest." He snapped his fingers.

"That's the one," he said with a grin. "They've designed it like that."

"Way to spoil it for me," I muttered. He laughed and shook his head.

"You can't spoil a haunted house. You'll be scared either way," he pointed out. Rolling my eyes, I quickly found myself in a relatively long line for the Forest. "I'm excited. That movie was cool."

"That movie was lame," I said. "It was only creepy. Nothing terrifying except for when she killed that guy and saw her parents in that basement," I added.

He shrugged. "I thought it was awesome."

"You're a weenie," I commented slyly. He huffed and walked forward a little as the line moved. I followed after and a chill went through me at the thought of the Forest being The Forest remade.

Sure, it was only creepy, but I still wouldn't want to live it. Besides, Sarah didn't make it out. If I was playing as Sarah, I had some serious rethinking to do in terms of whether or not I would go in.

As the line moved forward, I became more stressed. Would they have several "corpses" hanging from trees? Would they constantly insist that I turn around, like they did Sarah?

Stupid Emmett for telling me.

Finally, we were at an archway that said "The Forest" above in a Halloween-like font. I walked forward and glanced at the sign posted. Don't mess with actors, don't damage equipment or sets, don't hurt animals, etc.

Don't hurt animals? Okay...

I didn't know they'd let animals chase us, but okay.

We went in and I walked warily through a narrow pathway closed in by trees and bushes. The trees were losing their leaves and would have been beautiful had they not been in such a creepy setting.

I looked around nervously and Emmett leaned down. "Scared already?" he asked, grinning. "How lame is The Forest, now?" I glared at him before stalking forward into the foggy darkness.

After about a minute, I spotted one. By one, I mean a body hanging from a tree about three feet from me. My eyes widened and I dodged it carefully only to run into one. It stank horribly, almost like a real corpse.

Emmett sucked in a breath when he saw them and carefully maneuvered around them, following me. Suddenly, one sprang from a tree branch and landed on me and there were some cackles and horrifying laughter.

I squealed slightly and shoved it off me before jumping up and looking around. It was so dark, I couldn't see a few feet in front of me. I looked around carefully. Suddenly, someone jumped in front of me and shoved past. Another body appeared and I barreled straight into it.

Screaming, I ran in the opposite direction only to see a dog slightly resembling Jazz snarling viciously and sprinting towards us at inhuman speed.

I dodged it narrowly and he ran straight in between us, passing and pouncing on a squirrel as it attempted to run away.

"Crab, you're supposed to chase them. Chase them! You had one job, you stupid mutt," I heard an irritated voice before a zombie creature walked out and towards the dog. The dog whimpered and the man snapped back in the direction they came from.
