Part Four: The beginning of the train.

Without further ado Effie guides me to the train. I realise my hands are clenched into fists so hard that my circulation is being cut off. I unclench my fists and massage some warmth into the numb hands. Even though it's early summer, it's cold out. It usually is in District Twelve.

I'm expecting the train to be an extended version of the Justice building where my family came to visit me. But that room was nothing compared to this train. The carpets are thick and fuzzy, the tables are even made of mahogany! Tables upon tables are filled with food. There are luxurious plush couches and seats and an amazing window view.

There are beautiful ornate lamps casting patterns and shadows on the walls covered with colourful wallpaper with delicate designs. There are jugs of juices and liquid of all colours that I've never seen before.

My mouth is open in shock.

"See!" Effie beams, "I just knew you'd love it. Because even though you're here and it's only for a little while," she puts on a voice that's supposed to be sympathetic and gives a big pout, "you can enjoy all of these amazing things!" Then she mutters something about how good it is living in the Capitol under her breath. I look over at Peeta who is frowning too.

Effie looks up. "Well well well. Let's get you to your rooms!"

She leads me down the hall. Mine is closer to the dining room. Effie tells me to go on in. I can do whatever I want, eat and wear whatever I want. Everything is fine. I just need to be at dinner for 5pm. This I can do.

I take off my clothes from the day after making sure my door is locked from the inside. I search the drawers for nice clothing. I wear a pair of black trousers with a light blue blouse. I want to get as far away from the clothes I wore today as I can. They remind me of the Reaping. I stuff them under my bed as I change. I also put on a fluffy jumper that looks normal from the outside but is in reality coated with fleece. It gives instant warmth.

I try to go over Katniss's recommendations in my head. Her first step was eating. We don't always know how long the Hunger Games last, but we do know that there might not be any food, for weeks. I can do my best to put on some weight, and those extra calories could be something I can survive on. Plus I'm already really skinny, a bit more will help a lot.

I press a button next to my bed and a Capitol attendant's voice comes on the speaker.

I order a puffy, light bread with butter and cream cheese and a lovely rabbit stew that we can sometimes have at home. I go to the bathroom. It's even bigger than my entire bedroom that I share with my whole family at home.

There are any gadgets with buttons that I don't even think I'll be able to use. I decide against a shower, I can have one later. I've never even had one before. In the seam we bathe in a small tub at home. We only have hot water if we boil it. But the name shower sounds nice. Like a little bit of rain.

There's a window seat looking out towards the view. I can see us zooming past. We must be going at least two hundred miles per hour.

I check the clock beside my bed and find the time 16:45. Time enough.
