Unexpected Winter Break

Winter break has arrived and Jieun had finished up all her finals at school. There was probably nothing much planned for winter again this year for Jieun. A lot planned for her only friend on the other hand. Nari was going to go visit her aunt, who's a novelist, in Jeju Island. Not many people would take a vacation to Jeju in the winter, but Nari's aunt always invites her to her beautiful traditional Korean home by the sea. Nari would always brag about the warm night parties her aunt throws with the neighbors who were all musicians and artist. They would share stories of their celebrity encounters on the Jeju beach and play music all night till the next morning. Definitely Nari's cup of tea.

But winter break for Jieun meant sleeping in till noon with fluffy blankets, washing her hair every other day, and hot sweet yams for snack. Nothing exciting, but comfortable for Jieun. She hadn't contacted her cousin ever since the Show Champion recording. She figured Jungkook was probably really busy. Winter was the end of the year and that's when a lot of end of the year festivals and events happen. Idols are usually always performing at multiple venues. Jieun laid in her bed, under her blankets still in her pajamas, when her sister barged into her room.

"Hey, pig!" her younger sister Jisoo shouted at her "Mom said to get up."

"Get out!" Jieun shout back at her from under the covers.

Jisoo threw Jieun's jacket that hung at the bedroom door at her. "Mom has an appointment so she needs you send some stuff to Jungkook oppa."

Jieun bolted up from her blankets. Send stuff to Kook? Jieun became more awake then usual and in a way she felt excited about going to the company office to see her cousin and the rest of the boys again. She ran past her sister to the restroom to wash her hair that she neglected for a few days now. It was weird that Jieun was super ecstatic to send stuff to Jungkook, but Jieun's ordinary winter break needed something different from all the past years. She quickly brushed her teeth and hair at the same time. Her mom walk through the restroom door.

"Ji-", she saw her daughter struggling to keep the shampoo bubbles out of her eyes. "I need you to send some stuff to Jungkook. Is that okay with you?" Her mother gave her a concerning look.

"Let me just get ready real quick." Jieun continued her fast pasted cleaning with her eyes completely shut because of the shampoo running down her face.

She washed up and got dressed quickly. She ran to the kitchen to grab the two cooler bags filled with side dishes and lunch for the boys. Her mom put a pack of new socks and stomach medicine in her backpack to pass on the Jungkook. Before her mom could question her eagerness Jieun was already out the door shouting bye.

Jieun walked up the slight hill to the company office, excited to see the boys again. She took the elevator up to the 3rd floor. As she came up to the double doors to their office, she hesitated. Would they let her in? They knew who her mom was because she was the one to always come drop off stuff, but they hardly know who Jieun is. She walked in slowly, scared to be condemned for entering, and luckily a lady spotted her. Jieun recognized her from the waiting room at Show Champ.

"Hello." She smiled at Jieun. "Are you here to meet Jungkook?"

Jieun nodded, relief that she remembered Jieun. "He should be in there listening to music." She pointed to one of the back rooms.

Jieun quickly scurried over to the door and opened it to find Jungkook and Jimin sitting at the table.

Jungkook, shocked to see her standing there. "Jieun-ah. Why are you here?"

Jieun quickly explained herself and handed the cooler bags to him. "Tell your mom thanks." He said grabbing the bags from her. "Sit down. We're about to go over our next comeback concept." He pulled a chair out for her and hurried out the room to put the bags away.
