Jieun sat there looking at the pen unnie was holding out to her. Her hands became clammy like it does before a test she hardly studied for. "Well?" the unnie asked "Can you help or not?"
Help? Well if it's just helping, Jieun could do it. There was no problem in helping. But was she in any place to help? Jieun was conflicted with herself. She thought she was in trouble for speaking out against unnie's designs. But now this unnie was asking her to help with the design. She gulped and slowly grasped the pen.
The unnie smiled. "Now, what's this all black uniform you were talking about?"
Jieun began to draw out a plain uniform and colored it black with a white collar shirt. Then she drew red sneakers. When she was done she set her pen down and she sighed. The unnie turned the laptop screen towards her and examined the sketch. She tilted her head from side to side and snapped her fingers.
"Alright!" She shouted. Jieun was so shocked she jumped up from her seat a bit.
The unnie turned to her. "Are you free tomorrow?" She asked. Of course Jieun was free, she's an expert at having a free schedule. "Yes." She answered.
"Come into the office tomorrow morning." She said as she packed up her laptop and notebooks.
"Um...er...umm." Jieun was taken back by how this unnie was so fast at making decisions for others.
The unnie got up and walked towards the door. "See you tomorrow at 9AM." She opened the door and before she walked out she winked at Jieun. "Call me Hyejin unnie." Jieun got up and bowed goodbye to her. When she had left, Jieun plopped back down in her chair. It had felt like she just got off a rollercoaster ride. What was going on? What did she get herself into? What was she even doing there in the first place? Then she suddenly remembered. Jungkook. She needed to give him the pack of socks and stomach medicines that were in her backpack. She rushed out the door but the boys were long gone by then. She wondered down the hall of the office. Where could he be?
Jieun looked through the small windows on the doors to separate small rooms. Most of them had the lights shut off, some had boxes and book shelfs, and some had machines with a lot of buttons. She came across one room and looked through the window. There was an old wood piano and someone sitting at it. She could only see the back of his head. She wondered if this person knew where Jungkook went. She opened the door and walked in quietly.
"Umm..." She tried to look at his face. "Do you..."
The person turned around and it happened to be Jimin. They both looked at each other silently, encountering once again an awkward moment. Jieun figured it would be best to just ask her question quickly to avoid any more silence. "Do you know where Jungkook is?" she asked.
He turned his back around, looking towards the piano again. "No." he answered bluntly. Well that was rude. What's his problem? She thought that maybe, just maybe he's warmed up to her since he did ask her to make more kimbap just a while ago. But she guess he was just trying to boss her around. Jieun proceeded to walk out of the room annoyed, but something came over her and she turned back at him.
"There's no need to be rude." She exclaimed "I haven't done anything to you. Why do you not like me? Don't act like your better." She swung the door open, frustrated at him and at herself for opening her mouth again. She walked out and bumped into someone bigger and taller than her. She looked up. It was her saving angel Sejin-nim. Jieun looked away embarrassed to make eye contact. Was he standing by the door the whole time? Did he hear it all? Why does she keep causing trouble, she moaned to herself.
He handed her a can of Milkis. "Want to share a drink out in the patio?" She grabbed it and bowed in thanks. They naturally began to walk to the elevator and headed out to the patio in the front of the building. She sat down at the small table while he stood against the side railing.
"Don't mind him." Sejin said as he opened his own can. "Jimin doesn't think he's better."
Jieun looked up at him. He began to drink the soda. "He doesn't know how to express himself. If anything, he's just shy around you."
Shy? Around Jieun? She laughed a little. The thought of him acting the way he does because of shyness towards her was just ridiculous to Jieun. She's the one that should be shy. He was the celebrity, not her. In fact, she's never seen anyone who was shy act like him. "I thought that he might not like me." She explained to Sejin.
Sejin took another sip. "All the boys are very fond of you." Jieun smiled. She opened her can and began to drink the Milkis Sejin gave her. Just then Jungkook came out to the patio.
"I thought you left." He ran over to them. Jieun opened her backpack and handed him the items she needed to pass along. "Thanks." He took them from her. Jieun figured it was her time to go since she's already made an impression of herself to everyone.
She bowed goodbye to Sejin and told Kook to remember to text his mom once in a while because she knows he forgets to. Jieun waved goodbye and walked back down the hill to the bus stop.
Sejin looked at Jungkook who was still watching her walk around the corner. "You guys must be close."
"She doesn't have any brothers, when we were younger my parents always told me to take care of her. Now that I'm working, she's always taking care of me." Jungkook answered.
Sejin put his hand on Jungkook's shoulder. "I'm glad she's around, but Namjoon is right." Jungkook looked at him. "We have to be careful." Jungkook nodded and they headed back inside.
The next day Jieun woke up early and got ready for her day back at the BigHit office. When she arrived to the company building and as she walked in, the elevator doors began to close. She shouted "Wait!" and ran towards the sliding doors trying to stop it. Suddenly a hand from inside the elevator held it open just in time for her to get to the door and see who it was. Their eyes met. Jimin.
She walked in. It really must be her bad fate that they continue to bump into each other like this. And it happen to just be the two of them. They stood side to side and waited quietly for the slow elevator to get to the third floor. Jieun couldn't take the silence anymore. Maybe she should say something, she thought to herself. But before she could open her mouth Jimin softly utter "Sorry." Jieun looked up at him.
"Sorry, for yesterday." He added, still looked straight towards the elevator doors. He still couldn't look at her face, Jieun thought. Maybe he really was shy. Jieun reached into her bag and pulled out an aluminum foiled wrapped roll and handed it to him.
"Here." She held it out further towards him. "It's the kimbap you asked for."
He took it, shocked that she had actually made it for him when he thought that she might have been mad from his attitude towards her. The doors opened. "Why..." he uttered.
Jieun walked out and turned back towards him. "Just be thankful." The doors closed. Jimin stood there in the elevator holding on to his kimbap. Jieun walked into the office looking for Hyejin unnie. The place looked even messier then yesterday and there were more people running around. Just then Hyejin unnie came out the back room. "Jieun-shi!" She shouted out. The waved at each other and Jieun bowed hello.
"This way." The unnie began to walk signaling Jieun to follow her. They arrived to what Jieun guessed to be a practice room because of the long mirrors on the walls. There were racks, boxes, and baskets of clothes everywhere. Tables full of makeup, hair product, and accessories. Hyejin unnie began to ramble on about how she had to find enough white collars shirts. How she just finished dyeing Namjoon's hair. How the boys are always asking for shoe insoles and that she wants to dye Taehyung's hair next. Jieun just stood there, over whelmed by what was happening. Hyejin looked back at her.
"What are you doing?" She asked. "Put your bag down and help me decide which jackets should go to who."
Jieun snapped out of her stare. She quickly put her bag down and rushed over to look at the black uniform jackets with Hyejin. As they looked over the leather details on the jackets a door opened from the rooms on the side of the practice room. Suddenly there was a shirtless Jin coming out holding a white collar shirt. "This one doesn't fit noona." He said as he looked up to see that it wasn't just Hyejin noona in the room.
Jieun's eyes widened.
