*baby cries in the background*

"I can't keep him. I can't keep the both of them." A lady cried over a baby's cry. He was loud; you could tell his lungs were strong.

"Well ma'am, what do you guys want to do as a family."

Tears stained her face as she looked up at her husband. He sat down with a piercing look on his face-- there was no telling what was possibly going on through his mind as the doctor waited for a response from the second-time mother.

This mother was tired of a lot more than recently pushing a baby out. She seemed to be tired of living the life she was living and wanted a clean slate. Maybe that's the direction she was headed in.

She sighed.

Everyone was confused to what she wanted and what she would do.

"Take him." She said while handing over her little boy. "And take him too." She said referring to her three year old son. "I don't want neither of them."

The doctor took the newborn and the nurse came and took the three year old as he screamed and kicked to be with his mother. She closed her eyes and ears as they were being snatched away from her from her own decisions.

The husband looked at her. And she looked back at him and they smiled at one another.

You think you know them?

It's been seven, long, hard years since Shawn's passing. I really haven't been myself since that day. After losing Shawn, I wasn't able to hold myself up so I took some time off from my job. It was well needed and I didn't really want to come back here, but I knew Shawn wouldn't want me to quit. So I'm still here.

I made my way into the office and was greeted by the assistant secretary, Martha. She then greeted me to a new detective that they hired to work closely with me, Shana. Detective Shana Smith.

"Detective Allen, it's nice to finally meet you. I've heard so much about you and I've gotten familiar with everything that you do. That way it'll be easier for us to work around one another." She smiled and held out her hand for me to shake. We've been through so many detectives over the seven year period, it's crazy. I could look at her and tell she wouldn't be here long.

I shook it. "Well let's get to work shall we?" I made my way to my office and walked passed Shawn's old office getting to it. The last time I was in there is when I was cleaning it out. Now, Shana has all of her things in there.

In my office, I sat down and opened a folder that was on my desk. Shana sat down and opened hers as well then started talking.

"As you know the case on Patrick Breeding is still open. We don't know where he could possibly be."

I sighed and rubbed my head. "I thought I closed that case. I told Martha that I wasn't working on it. I've let it go. Everyone else should too." I said while scamming through the notes.

"That's the problem. You shouldn't. He killed your wife and your unborn child, he's killed Dustin Michaels, Mia Daniels, and a host of other people. I don't know how he even got away with all of this." Shana looked disgusted.

"Because he's a con-artist. He's incredibly smart and he played all of us." I informed her.

"What do you mean?"
