If it wasn't about food, the girls, or phone calls from my boss, Kendra's made it her business not to talk to me about the letter I found. Speaking of letters, they're nowhere to be found now. I've never known Kendra to be the sneaky type but now everything she's doing is becoming suspicious.

We were now in the waiting room at Dr. Hawthorne's office. We left Layla and Eva with a babysitter that we use occasionally. I sat with my arms folded across my chest and Kendra sat with her arms folded and legs crossed. The truth and her nerves were eating at her as she shook her leg.

What was so bad that she couldn't tell me?

We didn't speak. I looked at her from time to time but never said anything. Finally we were called to the back. We sat down with Dr. Hawthorne. She looked at the both of us before speaking. "Something's a little off in here. I feel the hostility... what's going on?"

Neither of us said anything. We sat there quietly, like two children who were ignoring their parents after putting them on punishment.

"Someone has to say something," Dr. Hawthorne said. "That's the only way to solve this. I would say you could solve it at home but I can tell you're not talking to each other."

I sighed. "You got that right."

Kendra smacked her lips.

"What? It's true. Don't have an attitude with me about shit you're doing!"

"And what is she doing Patrick?" Dr. Hawthorne interrupted.

"I don't know. I really can't answer that question. She won't tell me.."

"Why won't you tell him?" She faced Kendra.

"I can't,"

"How come you can't?"

"Because I don't want to hurt him.." she said with her head low.

"Hurt me? How bad is this Kendra?" I turned to her.

"It's terrible.."

I shook my head. "I'm feeling like I don't even know you right now."

"Well I feel the same way."

"About what?"

"Not knowing you! Who are you, by the way?"

I didn't know what she meant by that. Did she know about my past? "What do you mean?"

"What happened before we got married?"

"Did we really get married?"

"You act as if you don't know about the accident, saying you thought you got shot, like what is that? Who were you before me?"

"Who were you before me, Kendra? Obviously not who you are now? And I don't know anything about the accident! I obviously don't know anything at all! I can't remember! You know that!"

Kendra was in tears now. We usually don't argue and when we did, it wasn't as bad. I felt bad for talking to her like I did but truth is.. I don't think I know her... or myself right now. She got up and grabbed her purse. "Whatever, I'll be in the front waiting." She walked out and slammed the door shut.

I felt defeated even though I knew Kendra was.

"How do you feel Patrick?"

I shrugged. "I'm confused. I don't know who she is nor me right now. Everything isn't how it seemed."

"Did you find out everything you didn't know about the medication?"

"Yes."

"Has Kendra been taking hers?"
