-Lottie's P.O.V-
"No, why does it have to be Harry and Louis?" I whined at my mum, but she just smiled, closing the door in my face. I huffed, but stomped over to the car and got in. Harry and Louis sang obnoxiously all the way to the mall.
I got out and they were being stupid nonstop.
"Stop being so grumpy, Lot," Lou said, ruffling my hair.
"Stop being so annoying, Lou," I mimicked his tone, now he rolled his eyes. We walked around shopping for a while, not bumping into anyone. It wasn't anything special really.
"Ava, can you try the pink one?" I heard a sweet, yet weak voice ask excitedly. I peeked around the corner and much to my surprise, there stood a small platinum blonde, her hair tied up in a pony tail and in front of her was Avangeline. They looked a lot like each other actually...
"A pink one? I'll look like some weird person then, Ranz," Avangeline said, smiling slightly. I decided to say hi, so I walked up to them with a smile, Louis and Harry being somewhere.
"Hello, Avangeline. Who is this?" I asked and they both turned to look at me. The younger girl looked at me in awe.
"Oh, this is Esperanza, my sister," Avangeline said, smiling politely. Esperanza took her sister's hand, her eyes on me.
"Lottie! Why do you walk away? We can't possibly keep up with you when we have to carry these darn bags as well." Louis came huffing from somewhere with Harry as well. They held tons of bags. "Oh, Avangeline, right?" Louis asked, carelessly dropping my stuff to offer her his hand.
"Yeah, and you're Louis." She smiled, shaking his hand gracefully.
"Is this your sister? You said you had one, right?" Lou asked, smiling widely down at the girl.
"Yes, I did. This is Esperanza," she said, voicing her sister's name oh so elegantly, with that French ring to her voice.
"That's a beautiful name," Louis said, crouching down in front of her. She looked very small. "How old are you, love?"
"10," she answered, her voice shaky.
"Calmer, juste oublier qu'il fameux," Avangeline said, the French flowing out of her mouth. The younger girl smiled and nodded.
"Okay, but I need a new wig," she said, still not looking at us. We all looked at her weirdly, but didn't comment. Avangeline gave us a wary glance, then back to her sister and nodded.
"I know, maybe we should just get someone to find a similar to the one you have?" she suggested, sitting down in a chair there, still holding her sister's hand.
"Oui."
"Okay, we'll just have to get h-"
"Do you need any asistance?" a woman asked, smiling kindly at us.
"Oui, er... Yes. We bought a wig here about 2 months ago, we were wondering if you had another one?" she asked the worker.
"Uh.. I can check, but I'll probably need the old wig in my hands, so I can check the numbers and stuff," she said and Avangeline sighed, but nodded. My eyes widened as she leaned forward and began fiddling with Esperanza's hair, I couldn't help the small gasp as she pulled it off and the girl was left nearly bald.
"Here," she said quietly, handing it over to the worker. The woman who's nametag said, Gina, gave a sympathetic smile, then went to find another wig.
"Do you have my hat, Ava? I look ugly without the wig," the little girl said. Ava gave a small smile and pulled out a beanie, placing it on her head, then kissing her forehead.
"You don't look ugly," Harry spoke up for the first time. The two sisters look over to him.
"Yes, I do. My hair keeps falling off and it's not Ava's anymore. We used to have the same hair," Esperanza said, fiddling her sister's hair.
"Well you look beautiful with or without your hair, besides, it's what's on the inside that counts, right?" Harry said with a smile, crouching down in front of her. He took her small and boney hand kissing the top and she blushed furiously. "Vous êtes absolumente magnifique."
Harry's French comes in handy at times, I see. The girl broke into a smile, then threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. He smiled and rubbed her back.
"You know French?" Avangeline asked him, her eyes slightly wider.
"A bit," Harry said, smiling kindly at her. The girl let go of him, but didn't step back before she gave his cheek a small kiss.
"Do you two want to join us for food later?" Louis asked, looking at Harry in a strange way. I shrugged it off. Esperanza looked up at her sister right away as Gina came with a new wig. Avangeline put the new wig on her sister without any problems.
"Sure, Ranz wouldn't be happy if I reject that offer," Avangeline said, smiling. She paid for the new wig, then left with her sister. We walked together and Louis was having a lively conversation with Esperanza.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked Avangeline, seeing as no one was listening.
"It's about Ranz, right?" she asked, her eyes sad, but she still smiled kindly. I nodded and she nodded too. "She as Leukemia." My heart dropped at how I've been so judgemental all the time.
"Oh, how is she? She's gonna be okay, right?" I asked, now Avangeline didn't answer. She just gave me a fake smile, then began talking to her sister in French very quickly, even Harry looked kind of lost.
I'll take the silence as no... Her sister isn't getting better and that's probably one of the reasons to why she's like this. So guarded and silent.
We went to eat, Esperanze only had a pack of chips, Avangeline had a burger and some chips, Harry and Louis had a lot more and I picked out a sandwich and extra chips.
We enjoyed lunch. Avangeline was mostly quiet, but Esperanza talked and talked. Louis and Harry seemed to adore her and I kind of did the same, it just pained me to see such a sweet little girl sick. I wish I could cure her.
