I squeezed my eyelids together tightly as the alarm clock on my bedside table began to blare. After a few minutes of listening to the constant beeping, I sat up annoyed. Squinting my eyes, I look towards the small digital clock on my white nightstand. The red numbers red "5:30". Unwillingly, I swung my feet over the edge of the bed and slid off, letting my bare feet touch the cold ground. I began tiredly grabbing clothes and putting them on, unhappy to be leaving the comfort of my pajamas and bed. I trudged my way upstairs to grab something for breakfast. My mom stood behind the counter, pulling two slices of toast out of the toaster. She put the now buttered toast on a napkin in front of me as I zipped my bag shut. I went into the bathroom, brushing my teeth and hair. Brushing my teethe was mostly to get rid of the sticky morning feeling on your teeth and in your mouth when you wake up. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and grabbed the piece of toast. "Thanks, mom." I said to her for my breakfast as I walked out the door. "You're welcome, Have a good day!" She called and I nodded before closing the door behind me. It was cloudy outside, looking like it might rain. This weather just made me want to crawl back in bed, in front of the TV. I made my way down the street to my bus stop. I stood alone, nobody else had this stop. a crisp morning breeze blew, causing me to shiver a bit and hug my hoodie closer to me. I put my hood up in hopes of trying to block out some of the cold air. The branches of the trees shook, a few leaves came tumbling down on the cement. Fall was such a beautiful season, all the leaves changed color and I could wear hoodies all the time. The only problem was that it was always cold for me but I refused to wear a coat in fall.
Finally the bus came and I climbed on, welcoming the warmth of the vehicle. I sat in an empty seat and pulled out my earbuds, placing them in my ears. The bus was always so strangely quiet in the morning. Nobody talked to anyone and the radio wouldn't even be on. It's likely that it's like that because everyone else is so tired. Later though, the bus is very lively. I gently leaned my head against the window, closing my eyes. I let the music move through my tired body, soothing my mind. I opened my eyes when I felt the bus stops. I pulled out my earbuds to hear the breaks squeak as we stopped. I glared at the brick building, many students standing outside and the majority wearing hooded sweatshirts. I stepped off the bus and made my way towards the crowd of people. Out of nowhere a friend of mine was running towards me, nearly knocking me over. I stumbled back and looked at her. I didn't understand how someone could be so energetic and cheerful so early in the morning but even so, seeing her smiling face made me smile. "Morning, Alex!" She backed up and smiled brightly, her words a cheerful tone. "Good morning Jay-bird." I laughed slightly, I was a bit more awake now. I think it's quite obvious that 'Jay-bird', is not her real name. Jayda, or Jay was one of my best friends. Jay giggled at her nickname. "Come on!" She grabbed my hand and brought me back to the crowd of students. There were many separate groups of people talking. I guess you could call them small little "cliques". Everyone went inside, going to their lockers. I put all my unnecessary stuff in my locker and grabbed a few binders, putting my phone in my pocket. I pulled my hood off as I entered my homeroom. I placed my binders on the desk in front of me and turned around to talk to a friend. "Hiya buddy." I said joking, smiling tiredly. "Dude, what time did you go to sleep? You look like crap." She laughed. "Hahaha, very funny." I replied sarcastically. "Seriously though, what time?" Beck asked again. I took a moment to think. "Around 2:00?" I said a bit unsure, sighing a little. Beck sighed as well. "Well, no wonder then. You should seriously try getting some sleep, man." She advised, giving a small encouraging smile. "Maybe." I laughed and turned back around. The bell rang and I headed to my first class.
All the classes were pretty much the same, I was silent unless spoken to. My friends are all in different classes so there's really no one I'm interested in talking to anyway. Surprisingly the teachers didn't give any homework today. On top of that, it was Friday and now, the end of the day. It seemed to go on forever, the droning voices of the teachers as they taught their lessons. A few 'end of day' announcements came over the intercom, echoing throughout the school and in every classroom. "You may now leave." The homeroom teacher said. Excitedly, all the students stood up, rushing to leave the school. I made my way through the bustling hallway, finding Jay on my way out. "Finally the end of the day." I said happily to her. "Yeah!" She agreed, smiling as usual. I walked out of the doors of the school, feeling free from the responsibilities of schoolwork. "Bye!" I waved a farewell to Jay as she got on her bus. "Bye!" She responded waving back. I once again got on my bus, the only difference this time were that people were talking and the radio was on. Everyone was having their own conversations, it was quite loud but that was usual. I sat down quietly and smiled to myself, it was nice now. About half way through the day, the sun had peaked out. Most of the clouds were gone but a few dark, puffy hung around in the sky. Despite that, it was still fairly warm, I didn't feel like I needed a coat. I stared out the window, taking in the voices of the people around me and the sound of the radio. Everything felt great, but then I heard him. I thought he was gone, no. He's back.
