Kat's POV
*3 months later* • September •"Are you ready kiddo?" Nat finishes braiding my brown curly hair.
I smile at her as I hopped off the chair and went to grab my backpack from the corner of the room.
For some reason Maria and Phil went all out as they went 'back to school shopping' for me that they forget to include me on their little trip.
I quickly sorted through my bag at the last minute, making sure everything I needed was in there. Notebooks, marker kit, a Hello kitty pencil case? How old do they think I am, five?
I turn to Nat and see her smirking as I held the pencil case up to her. "Really?" I retorted.
"I'm sure you'll find friends with the same interests" she says while giggling. She probably told Phil to get this as a joke.
"Kat, you know normal kids your age (10) find interest in this stuff" she said flatly.
"Yea well I'm not normal am I" I mutter under my breath.
"What was that?" Her head rose as she spoke.
I looked down at my hand watch and read the time. 8:00. "I said we're going to be late, let's go." I zipped my bag up still leaving the hello kitty case in it and walked out my bedroom to the elevator.

"Hello students and parents, I am Mrs. Crowley, I advise you to check your child's registration form again just to make sure they're in the right room, wouldn't want any mix-ups right?" She pauses for a moment and looks around the class only to see no one checking. She signed to herself. "Parents may leave now, I promise you're children are in good hands." She bids her farewells to every parent and I mean every parent.
"Well I'll just start with attendance and then I'll explain how things go around here." She smiles brightly at the us 10 year olds who have all found their friends and say at different desks.
"Jessica Andrews , Matteo Carlos, Leo Fitz-" she looked familiar with most of the people she had already called out. I had zoned in between names until mine was called. "Katrina Stark" I raised my hand, all the heads turned and a million pairs of eyes met mine. I guess I'm the only new one here.
They all eyed me like I was a lab experiment. I 'politely smiled' as Phil had advised me to. I got a few glares in return from the people I expected them from while others smiled back or turned away.
She carried on with the list. "Jemma Simmons, Aaron Henderson, Cain Hudson...." And so the list continued for a very long time.
"I will now assign you to seats, that way you can interact with someone new, please not me. And sure enough I got seated in a group seating arrangement with three people. I remembered the girl, Jemma as she smiled at me. Then a boy came and sat down with us, he looked friendly and wore a flannel and baggy jeans.
Jemma seemed to know him as they began talking. "Hey Fitz how was your summer?" I guess his name was Fitz then...
I stared off awkwardly in the distance, can the clock go any slower?
"Katrina?" My head whipped around to see the Jemma girl smiling at me. "Hey, couldn't help but notice, you're new right?" She asked, she had a strong British accent. I slowly nodded my head.
