Chapter 16- Eyes everywhere (2006)

Third person POV

Years passed by and Katrina continued to strengthen in combat and intelligence. By the time she was 14 she was already at university level science. Her bond became closer with everyone at S.H.I.E.L.D and the Academy.

Still, there have been many attempts of attacks and Kidnappings for Katrina, she often wondered why but always concluded that it was because of her intelligence that could be used for something dangerous.

Natasha continued to train her from time to time. Katrina always insisted on getting allowance from Nat and Fury to begin actual field work but of course both of them discouraged the idea, reasoning that she should start at a more mature age. Of course that didn't stop Kat from sneaking on missions, always ending with fury grounding her from training and making her work part time at a coffee shop as punishment.

At the age of 16 Katrina still hasn't changed much, still sneaking off to mission, working her second year at the local coffee shop "Tina's Home" and also as Fury's training assistant.

Her life is without doubt hectic but she takes on the responsibility to prove to Fury and everyone at S.H.I.E.L.D that she is mature enough to begin 'real work'. In one month time she will turn 17 and will therefore have permission to start as a beginning agent with as promised a clearance level of 4.

The Academy has been a rough patch for Katrina, the academy held studies till the age of 20 in order to increase each students ability with different environments provided. However Katrina was a very advanced student who was already starting her second last year. Most of her school life included dealing with bullies who considered her a freak for being smart, snobs who thought she was rich and tried to befriend her just because of her name, teachers who second guessed her or totally used her as an advantage for themselves. The only good thing that came out of school in Kat's opinion was her long-time friends, Fitz and Jemma, as well as the training the school provided.

With only a couple months left for school, Kat is juggling between work and final exams in hopes to pass all the tests at S.H.I.E.L.D Academy and hopefully gain a scholarship access to higher clearance levels and privileges for when she begins her job as an agent.

Katrina's POV

6:45 AM

I whip my head around to face the clock hanging beside the refrigerator in the cafe. I sigh to myself; today has been very a long day at work starting at 6 as usual and waiting for 8:15 to slowly pass by as the familiar customers walk through the door with their noses filled with the smell of the freshly baked macarons coming out of the oven.

With school starting only at 9:45 because of my spare, I always end up having extra time to sit down for breakfast and finish last minute assignments or read through private files that I stole from Fury's cabinet.

The bells jingle from the door swinging open and I quickly look up to see a new customer walking through the door, carelessly bringing snow and dirt in the shop.

He looks around the shop noticing the people sitting comfortably at their usual spots before heading over to where I am, his eye contact focused on me. Embarrassed from staring so long, I look down with flushed cheeks before gazing back at him and smiling. "Hi, what can I get ya today?" I say with a friendly voice.

He peers over his shoulder for a moment before sliding a black and white picture across the counter. On his pinky finger, a bulky ring with the imprint of a dragon is carved into the metal. It was unlike any kind of carving I'd seen before and the ring seemed to oddly glow as I looked at it.
