Muffled voices.
That's all she could hear with this damn helmet over her head.
No one said that sneaking into an operative mission was easy.
Kat was determined to prove both Fury and her boyfriend wrong. A simple mission wouldn't hurt her. And a simple mission wouldn't trump a regular S.H.I.E.L.D job.
Kat wasn't actually in a mission just yet. But she had just returned from the workout/ combat room and decided to give the security costumes a try. The helmets definitely squeezed her brain.
Kat was still pissed at Ward for his hurtful comment. And she had been looking for him all over the HQ today.
The couple hadn't spoken in a week and Kat decided that they had stayed silent long enough. When she overheard that Maria Hill was organizing an undercover mission in Russia she knew Grant would be on it. She also spoke to one of the team members and may have lied to them about Fury letting them have the day off. But that's besides the point. Kat was adamant on going on one mission to prove everyone wrong.
The only problem was that everyone knew her and she would be easily reported and recognized if she tried to sneak into a mission. Therefore she found herself in the equipment room where she was going to use a guard helmet to disguise herself. It was commonly worn by members of the team anyways so she'd have no trouble fitting in.
Walking out of the equipment room satisfied with her finds, she turned out into the hallways to take a quick break in the lounge room. The news channel was on the TV.
Today Harlem honors those who lost their lives last year to the unexpected monster attack on Harlem by the Hulk and Abomination. The remains of the city are finally being put back together and construction will be over this summer. The wearabouts of The Hulk are unknown-"
Kat turns off the tv and shakes her head. Though it was slightly hard to hear what the tv was saying, she understood enough. And it hurt her to know that people would blame the Hulk. He was trying to stop what S.H.I.E.L.D themselves couldn't stop. He saved lives and yet there are people who continually show their hate.Having heard enough she got up from her seat and went to walk down the hall. That was until she saw Grant. She was just about to approach him when she saw a head officer call him over to speak privately. Now Kat being a rather nosey person decided to hide behind a corridor and listen in.
"Sir what can I do for you?" She overheard Grant talking respectfully to his elder.
"Ward I've noticed the way you train and defeat everyone at combat. It's incredible really."
"Ah thank you sir, it's nothing really." Grant humbly chuckles. His eyes glinting as he does so.
"Well anyways son there's been an opening for an overseas job, I know you've been interested about that recently eh?" The old man asks. Grant nods.
"Well son S.H.I.E.L.D would like you to come and work as an undercover Russian spy for the embassy in Warsaw Poland. We understand you are fluent in both countries languages."
Kat's breathing stops. She doesn't like where this is going already. He can't take that job. It's too risky for a new agent like him.
Suddenly her head begins to pound. Like a knuckle knocking against her head, it's pain is annoying and repetitive. She wants to groan in pain but then she'd compromise herself in front of her boyfriend.
And if it were like magic, the room suddenly felt more open and a pop sound arose in her head. She looked around the room to see everything looked the same although something felt different.
When she looked back behind her at Grant. She froze. She could hear his voice but more clearly. But that wasn't the problem.
She could hear his voice even though he wasn't speaking. She began to think she was hearing things randomly but then when she looked at the guard she began to hear his voice too. Saying things even though his mouth wasn't moving.
