She was lying in bed. Feeling safe and secure until she opened her eyes. What she saw shocked her back into reality. She wasn't in her nice, semi- clean room in her house. She was in a cold, bright hospital room. She had thought that it was all a dream, a horrible dream. When she got the urge to look around the room she spotted a familiar face with bright red hair. It was her aunt, Liz Sterling.
Liz is more formally known as Elizabeth Sterling. Her and Lex's mom, Caroline Sterling, are the only two daughters of the wealthy, hard working Sterlings.
The Sterling family is a long line of hard working, uptight people that work and make money. Lex's grandparents have high expectations for Liz and Caroline. Liz isn't as up tight as the rest of her family. She doesn't want to be. She is more of a fun loving, crazy, colorful person. She dies her hair crazy colors. What ever she feels like trying. Liz does wild and fun things. She is only twenty five so she wants to live life to the max. No point in living if you're not alive.Lex is really close to Liz. They are so close that Lex calls her by her first name. Since her mom and dad are hardly around, Lex spends a lot of her time with herself or Liz. Lex and Liz do everything together. Movies, shopping, lattes, you name it. They can trust each other with secrets and knowledge. When Lex is with her, she doesn't feel so alone. She feels like everything will be alright.
When Lex looked around the hospital room she not only noticed her aunt sleeping on the couch, but she noticed there was no one else in the room. When she glanced at the dark brown wood table beside her, it to was, like the room, empty. No one had come to see her. She figured that at least her mom would take one day off, or at the very least a few hours, to visit her only daughter when she had been hit by a car. She was so upset, so angry that she couldn't handle it. She closed her eyes and went back to sleep. Perhaps she would find some way of coping with her dilemma. While she was slept and dreamt of her only friend ...something snapped.

Two weeks later, she went back to school. No one even asked her if she was ok. No one talked to Lex at all! She was so upset, so furious, she couldn't focus. She totally spaced out. She was completely enveloped in her angry thoughts. Well, until someone shouted her name. "Lex Sterling! Are you even paying attention?" She looked up and saw an angry Mr. Bayer glaring at her. She wasn't. "Ms. Sterling, are you listening?", Mr. Bayer asked a second time. She was so upset and sad that she did something she never thought she would do.
