The Weight on My Soul

Somewhere inside me,

It silently dies,

My only companion,

Till the end of time,

Duped by hopes and bound by lies,

Pulling it under to its demise,

Struggling, striving, to escape,

Yearning, craving to be free,

Listening, speaking, words unspoken,

Tired of everything that it sees,

Weeping, sobbing, tears unseen,

Blindly believing in everything,

Screaming, shouting to deaf ears,

Begging, praying to be heard,

There's nothing, nothing it can do,

Sitting in the corner, saying 'adieu',

Seeking, searching for its mate,

Filled up inside with so much hate,

Going down an empty road,

Making loneliness, its only abode,

Walking, stumbling, falling down,

Tired, so tired, of carrying on,

Knowing for certain there's nothing ahead,

Crumbled and crushed, left for dead,

The weight on my soul as heavy as it gets,

Nor me, nor the soul, there's nothing left.
