Chapter Three
"A New Home"► Merii ◄
I stood in front of a fancy-looking house, my hands on my hips, just staring. Gray walls that were around a third my height surrounded my new home. The door was way smaller than it looked in the magazine, and it was a two-story. The bushes that lined the sides of the wall were small and city-sized, along with the tiny tree. I huffed, spun on my heel, and faced my mother.
“Why?” was all I asked. She chuckled quietly and came to stand by me.
“It's a nice change, don't you think?” she asked me. I glared at her, and smacked the hand she was trying to put on my shoulder.
“I hate this place! I wanted to stay, to stay at the place I grew up! I wanted to stay in Russel's home! I could've just, just stayed with him instead of dragging him along to a place neither one of us wanted to go!” I snapped, “I had to put him in a Pokeball just because of this!” I pushed by Mom and stomped away, muttering insults under my breath.
The town was small. That's one of the things I hated about Vaniville Town . It was small, and had no forest by it. Sure, it had its small, city-sized trees and bushes, but did Mom really expect me to be happy here? I loved Viridian Forest!
“She could've let me stay with you in a place where we would be happy...” I muttered, putting a Pokeball on the ground.
In a flash of red light, Russel, now a Gallade, appeared before me. He was taller than me by only five inches, being five foot three while I was four foot ten. Our eyes met briefly and he walked off to explore our new home.
Russel and I were tighter than ever. Ever since Daddy disappeared, I had grown closer to him, and he had basically raised me. Since my mom was the only parent, she had to work extra hard and was usually not at the house until she came home during the night, when I was asleep, and left before I woke. He was always there for me, and I always made sure I was there for him.
But Mom was still my mother after all.
I sighed to myself and walked back to out new house. Mom was already inside; I could hear her humming a song. I stopped by our tiny tree and place my hand on the trunk. It felt healthy and strong, making me grin. It had a few years, but it would soon grow into a tree almost the size of Viridian Forest trees!
“Gallade?”
I glanced over my shoulder. Russel held a small light blue stone that had a star-like design in the middle, his eyes glinting. I laughed and made a grab for the stone, a Dawn Stone, but Russel twisted away and jumped right on top of the roof. I shook my head.
“Russel, no fair!” I growled playfully at him. “I can't do that!”
“Gallade~” he snickered and tossed the Dawn Stone up in the air and caught it in his other hand. “Gallade gall.”
“I am so not!” I stamped my foot. Narrowing my eyes, I grabbed a branch from the tree and pulled myself onto it. Climbing much like a Mankey, I reached the top of the tree and popped my head out. “Russel! That's no fair!”
He was now standing on the roof of my neighbor's. I huffed in annoyance and jumped down to the ground. Pain shot up my right leg and I winced, quickly canceling the pain and pushing it out of my conscious. I limped slightly over to my door, glanced over at Russel, gave him an evil grin, and disappeared into my new home.
Closing the door behind me, I gave my mother a small smile and wandered up the stairs. Boxes were everywhere and I caught one that decided to tumble to the ground from the height of two other large boxes. I placed it back and walked into a room, assuming it was mine. Most of the boxes were labeled 'Merii-Shay' so it really was my room. My mirror was already up by my dresser. I walked over to it and looked at my reflection.
I looked much like my father. I had his straight, light brown hair, blue eyes and face, but I had my mother's eyes and height. Sometimes elder people thought I was the legendary Pokemon trainer Touko from Unova since I looked much like her. She was my great-grandmother, though.
I grabbed an extra hairband and tied my hair up into a high ponytail, just like Touko used to fix her hair; I took the straw hat that was laying on my bed, putting it on. I opened the dresser cabinets one by one until I found what I was looking for. I stuffed into into the pocket of my pants and rushed out of my room. I almost ran straight into mom, who was carrying boxes that looked extremely heavy, but I spun and missed her by just a hair.
“Oi! Merii-Shay, watch where you're goin'!” she shouted after me, but the door was already banging close behind me.
“Russeeeeel!” I yelled, not seeing him. “I'm baaaack!”
He jumped down in front of me from the tree. I grinned and put my hands behind my back, rocking back and forth on my heels. “Sooooo.” I merely stated.
He gave me a look, telling me he knew I was hiding something. I merely met his gaze with my steely blue one.
“BAM!” I suddenly grabbed a bottle filled with Thunder Wave and sprayed it directly in his face. Russel squeaked, but, before he could move, I sprayed more over most of his body. Soon he could no longer move. I took the Dawn Stone from his hands and threw it up into the tree. I watched as he fell to the ground.
Walking over, I tilted my hat to him. “Nice meeting you, sir. I think I'm the winner.” Russel glared at me while I winked. “It'll wear off in 'bout a hour. See you then!”
I took off, but was called back when I heard my mother's voice. Stepping over Russel who was trying his hardest to get up, I met her at the door.
“Yeah?”
She smiled. “Tomorrow you'll be startin' your trainer journey,” she said calmly.
“No no no NO NO NO NO!” I clamped my hands over my ears, squeezing my eyes shut. “NO!” I didn't want to go on a journey. I wanted to stay with my mother and care for Pokemon at the Daycare!
“I know you don't want to, but you're ten. I was ten when I started my journey! So was your..... your father.”
I opened my eyes slowly, keeping my hands on my ears. “I-I..... I won't go without a partner! I won't!”
Mom put a hand on my shoulder.
“Then I'll go find one for you, hm?” she said softly. With that, she walked away. She unclasped a Pokeball from her belt and, throwing it up into the air, released her Pidgeot Night. Hopping on her, mother nodded to me and Russel, who was still on the ground.
“I'll see you soon, 'kay?”
“Okay!” I smiled and waved, relaxing. It would take her forever to find the right Pokemon, right? “See you!”
“Don't have too much fun while I'm gone.”
“We won't!”
With a flap of her wings, Night took off to a city. Maybe while they were gone, I could research Kalos and see which forests—or cities, I guess—they would go to to find the right Pokemon. I glanced down at Russel.
“Come on, we have to research!” I told him. With no effort at all, Russel stood, gave me a smile, and we went into the house.

Ugh, this took forever to write! Now because I didn't have an idea--I had a BUNCH--but because I couldn't find the time. I promised @arvin12pascual that I would update when he did, but he updated WAAAAY too fast for me! When I was able to check Wattpad, I only had about two minutes to read his update and comment. I had no time to write anything. *sighs* Then the next day comes up, I had to babysit plus I could barely keep my eyes open!
Finally, I found a day where I could write! :D I'm so excited this chapter's up, even if it isn't much. It's just the beginning after all!
VOTE! COMMENT! SO SORRY, ARVIN, THIS IS LATE!
