Chapter Seven

I skipped down Route One, humming a tune. The breeze was light, the Pokemon roamed happily in the trees that lined the tiny pathway made by many travelers, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
I’m sorry it all ended when we got to the first town.
Route One’s calmness and greenness was extremely short-lived. I literally got to Aquacorde Town in about two minutes. I turned around to say something to Winston, but he wasn’t there. I narrowed my eyes, hands on my hips, as I waited for him to walk through the arch.
That’s when I realized I didn’t have my bag.
“Oh, great, this awesome!” I shouted with a sarcastic grin on my face. “Winston! Hurry up! I forgot my bag!”
“You know, I’m right here. No need to yell,” Winston sighed, appearing from behind the arched, stone pillars that sat at the entrance of the town. “And I have your bag.”
I snatched the small shoulder bag from his hand and slipped it over my head, adjusting it so it was comfortable. I almost gave him a small nod, quickly masking it with a hard glare, then shot off towards the middle of the town which held a magnificent water fountain.
I scurried down the stairs, taking two at a time, almost tripped, ran into a rich-looking person, and skidded to a stop beside the fountain, earning looks from bypassers. I ignored them and watched my reflection in the water. My brown hair was down and touching the water creating tiny ripples every time I moved; my eyes were as blue as ever. I wore an auburn-colored shirt with a white, loose open sweater that was rather long; my green pants reached my knees. I had a small, green ribbon-like string tied around my right sleeve of my sweater.
I grinned at myself and ran a hand across the surface of the water, distorting my reflection. I sighed, spinning around on my heel to see where Winston had gone off to.
He had not gone anywhere. Winston was sitting on a bench, just watching the people go by, his hands on his lap. I took a second to just look at him.
Winston was wearing a light blue hoodie and light gray jeans. He had an undershirt on that was black. Very simple, yet it still seemed like he had money. His clothes were more on the clean side while mine were wore-looking. I didn’t mind at all, though: I loved comfortable clothing.
Tch. Why am I commenting on clothing again? I mentally slapped myself silly then hurried over to Winston. I leaned against the arm of the bench.
“Heyyo~ Do you have any idea what we should do here or should we get going?” I asked, running a hand through my hair unconsciously. Winston shook his head, his eyes distant, as if he was listening to something I couldn’t hear. I tried again, this time voicing my question louder.
“”Course not,” he said irritably, standing up. “I don’t care what we do. Let’s just get something done, okay?”
I nodded quickly and skipped away to a store that had a Pokeball sign hanging in front of it. That’s when I realized I had no idea where Fletcher and Russel were.
I quickly scanned the city, watching for any kind of movement. No Gallades or Chatots could be seen. Winston came over, giving me a puzzled look.
“Who are you searching for?” he questioned, “There’s really no one here.”
“Russel and Fletcher are missing,” I said bluntly, still looking.
“Oh.”
Winston was silent for a few minutes. He opened his mouth to speak a few times, but closed it before anything was said. I gave up he would say anything useful and wandered around the town, very rarely asking people if they had seen a Chatot or a Gallade. I gathered that they were rare in Kalos, so I immediately stopped asking when someone looked as if they were going to catch and sell them.
