The baby making machine was very old and it's structure was not easy to comprehend since it apperantly held magic or something like that. It had chemical parts as well as mechanical ones and some stuff they did not understand. Said machine broke down and the baby delivery was being postponed. It was not a big deal since not everybody asks for a baby, but those select few that did might think they weremt going to be parents ans that was a big drawline for the storks.
Who did they asked to try and fix it?
Tulip. But it had been hours since she entered the machine and now Junior was beginning to worry.
"Any sign or message from her?" He asked one of the storks.
"Not since she left, boss."
Junior nodded. And left the worker do his job. Something was wrong. Finally, when he had enough, he grabbed a construction helmet and went inside the machine to find her.
"Tulip!" He called. "Where are you? It's been hours, are you ok?"
He heard a gasp and quickly ran into that direction. He found his favorite human girl sitting on the floor surrounded by different pieces of the machine and a power box on the wall. "Junior? What are you doing here?"
"It's been hours and you haven't come up, I though something happened to you."
Tulip was touched. "Aw, Junior. But I'm fine, it's just that I can't comprehend what going on. All the mechanical parts seem fine, the chemical ones as well, so I don't get it. And- ouch!!!" She held her hand.
"You ok?"
"Yeah, I just... something cut my hand that's all." She said as she tried to stop the blood loss.
Junior grabbed a baby blanket he always carried with him just in case and sat down with her. "Here, let me..." He took her hand and carefully wrapped it with the blanket all the while he ignored the butterflies in his stomach. "You know, you should bring gloves or something, for protection."
"I forgot them in my desk."
He finished wrapping her hand. "There you go. Anything else?"
" I don't think so. Thanks... Gabriel." She teased.
Junior chuckled. "Don't you want some help? You basically have one useless hand now."
Tulip smiled. "Ok, you can help me. But I was thinking of a five minute break."
"Ok, then." Junior said as he leaned against the wall. He looked down at a crystal cylinder with a heart shaped sign over it. "What's that?"
" a piece of the machine." Tulip said as she grabbed and attempted to place it back on the power box. Junior quickly stood up and helped her placed back inside. Once it was done, he turned to her. " what do you think it is for?"
"I don't know. It doesn't have anything inside but it looked important."
Junior went back to rest his back on the wall. Tulip sat down beside him and placed her head over his shoulder. Junior's face turned completely red. In his panic, he carefully placed his wing around her shoulders. They said nothing and just sat there in complete silence.
Then Tulip fell asleep. Junior stared at her peaceful looking face. "She must be tired..." he said. He cleaned a oil stain from her cheek and wrapped his wing more tightly around her. Within minutes, he fell asleep himself.
The crystal cylinder started to magically refill itself with a glowing pink sustance. It glowed so much that the light woke them up.
Tulip groaned. "What..." she suddenly realized that she was being surrounded by Junior's strong wing and blushed. His feathers are super soft, I wonder what kind of shampoo he uses- what am I talking about!?
Junior snapped his eyes open. "What's that?" He let go of Tulip, pretending his blush wasn't there.
Both of them walked towards the glowing cylinder. "How did this happen? Tulip?"
"I... I don't know. I know this thing has some kind of magic but I'm not sure anymore. I guess the machine just needed resetting."
"It might be that. Well, let's go because that hand needs to see a medic. We don't want it infected do you?"
"You're right. Let's just get my stuff and get out of here."
Junior helped carry her toolbox, which was super heavy. How can she carry this stuff? It feels like I'm breaking a wing.
They walked out of the baby machine. The pink substance glowed with such intensity, it could momentarily blind someone. How did this filled itself magically?
Tulip and Junior got out of the machine and headed to the medical wing to get Tulip's hand fixed.
"Boss!" A stork yelled as he flew towards Junior. I found this old book about the machine. Thought it might help."
"Thank you Gerald."
As the stork flew away, Junior and Tulip stared at the book. "You think we might find out why the machine fixed itself?" Junior asked.
"Maybe. Let's open it!"
"Nope, hand first."
"Come on, Junior. I want to see why!"
"Ok, ok... geez..." Junior said as he opened the book and searched through it.
They finally found the cylinder with the heart. "Let's see... it says '...the machine's main source of power. It needs to be refilled with... love? The closet amount it finds, it feeds from it, the stronger it is, the better the machine will work to...make...the babies...'"
"Ugh?"
"Well, thats..."
"Weird."
"Awkward..."
Both eyed each other with a slight blush in their cheeks. Junior closed the book. "Jeje, um... let's go to the medic. That hand needs attention."
