A Small Fire (or that someone should get some water right now!)

Another day of work. More paperwork, more employees to talk to, chairmen reunion, all in a good day's work. Except of course, having to talk to the baby factory engineers. Because Junior understood nothing about what they said. This was more of Tulip's area. Where was she?

"...and so, we are just requesting new monitors for the computers. This one's are too slow and old for the demand."

Junior nodded as he wrote down on his board. "So, anything solved about the fire incident a few hours ago?"

"All fixed, boss. Orphan Tulip is down there helping with the damaged motor that caused it all."

So there she was. "... she's not an orphan anymore, you know."

"Sorry, boss. Old habits die hard I guess."

Both storks walked towards a hole on the ground. The engineer handed Junior a construction helmet and they both went down. The workers were carrying an old looking motor while Tulip fixed some cables and wired new ones. "So you see, boss. It's all good now."

Junior tapped his pen on his beak. "I don't know. That motor looks like it will colapse  from a small wind. Are you sure it doesn't need any replacement?"

"Nah, it's good I aside you. Take a look yourself."

Junior carefully went to inspect the motor. Tulip gave him a small smile and went back to work. Junior tapped the motor with the pen and some rust fell off. "Yeah... fixed... sure." He turned around. "So just the monitors? Because I think this is worth putting in a museum."

"It's all good, I promise." He sniffed the air. "Something's burning..."

They all smelled the air. Tulip looked at the motor and then at Junior. Her eyes widened. "Junior! Your butt feathers are burning!!!"

Junior looked behind him and indeed, the motor had caused a small fire again and burned his tail feathers. "AAHHHH!!!" He ran in circles trying to get to fire to go.

The engineer went upstairs and took a fire extinguisher. He fired it at Junior. Within seconds, the fire was gone and Junior was covered in soap foam. He glared and growled at the engineer. The stork smiled nervously and gulped. "I guess... a new motor is top priority."

"Yes, it is..."

Junior walked away with his head held high like he hadn't had an embarrassing moment. Just when his back was turned towards the others, he heard some laughs. He turned around and they were all silent. Then he continued his way upstairs.

In place of his tail feathers, now a spot of proud pink skin shone in the light.

"Wiggle that butt, Junior!" Tulip yelled and the rest laughed.

Suddenly Junior became self-conscious about his predicament, covered his tail with a distinct blush on his his cheeks and walked faster than before. Damn it, Tulip...

I just had to write about Junior doing his job. Hope you liked it!
