The hotel was nice. It wasn't the best but it could've been worse. Our room had three beds and one desk. It was really small, but it would have to do. I got my own room because I was the first one there, and I sat alone on a plane.
I threw my bag in the corner and turned on the TV.
"Bienvenue à Paris! cette vidéo vous montrera toutes les attractions et monuments disponibles pour visite," the woman on the tv said. I spoke a little French and I translated it to 'welcome to paris! this video will show you all of the attractions and monuments available for visit.' I grabbed the remote and changed the language to English. I scrolled through the channels. Nothing that caught my eye. I gave up and turned off the TV. I pulled out my phone and checked my texts. I had 10 texts from mom.
-Have you landed yet?
-Remember call me when you land
-Are you ok?
-I checked the time, you should be on the ground by now
-You better call me right now missy!
-Your scaring me and you father
-CALL US
-Sweetie?
-Answer me
-I'll give you until 3:00 US time to call me. If you don't then your grounded when you get back
I rolled my eyes. Why doesn't she trust me? I wasn't even gone for a day yet and she's already freaking out.
-mom I'm fine. Plane was late landing
I sent the text and turned off my phone. It was 7 in the afternoon. To early to go to bed.
I groaned and lied on my bed. Everyone was still at the airport. Leslie and Kari wanted to look at the stores, and I'm pretty sure Trina was all over Mark.
My mind wondered to Mark. His messy hair, his glowing eyes. His fit muscular....
I shook my head. He's with Trina by now. Plus you just met him! What are you thinking! I decided to take a walk, and acquaint myself with the city. I grabbed my purse,, and walked out of the room.
The streets were filled with interesting characters. There was multiple mimes, and street performers. I stopped at a café and looked at the menu. I wasn't hungry, but I was still curious. I ended up ordering a coffee. I sat outside and watched the people walk by. Many of them were couples. I guess this was the city of love.
I've never really had a boyfriend. Well I've had one but they didn't mean anything. I wished that one day I would find the perfect guy that would sweep me off my feet. I know that was the same dream every girl has, but I actually meant it. I hoped to find that someone to dedicate my time, and love to. I sighed I tried to push the dream out of my head.
I went to take another sip from my drink, but it was empty. I looked around for a trash can. I found a dumpster in the alley way of the café. I walked over to it and threw my cup away. I turned back to walk out but a silhouette was blocking my way.
"Excusez-moi," I said.
(Excuse me)
They didn't move. I tried to walk around them but he stepped in my way. I started to walk in the other direction away from the man blocking my way, but another guy stepped in my way. I was trapped. I was getting ready to scream, but one covered my mouth. I struggled to get away but another grabbed my hands and held me still. I felt something sharp press against the back of my neck.
"Do what we want, and we won't have a problem," one whispered to me.
"Now stop struggling," he whispered again.
I obeyed and slowly stopped. I felt a tear fall from my eye.
"Come with us," he ordered.
They turned me to face the dumpster and we started walking forward. The alley way continued for what seems like forever. While we were walking another silhouette appeared down the alley way. I heard the guys behind me whispering something to each other. I watched as the man came forward. He slowly made his way forward. He had a ski mask on and a black hoodie. He looked like the stereotypical robber. We picked up his pace towards us. He started into a run. When he got to us he punched one in the face which made him release me. I turned and kicked his shin. I was mad at these guys and I wasn't going to let this new guy have all the fun. He was looking at me. I think he was impressed. I smiled and noticed the second guy coming after him. Before I could say anything the man with the mask ducked the punch the other guy threw. He then punched him right in the jaw. The man with the mask grabbed my wrist and dragged me away. After we were out of the alley we stopped to breath.
"Thank you," I said. Then I realized he probably doesn't speak English.
"Merci," I quickly corrected.
"I speak English," he said.
"Who are you?" I asked.
He looked at me for a second.
"Doesn't matter," he said dully.
I walked towards him. I grabbed the mask and yanked it off, but before I could see his face he turned away and started to run. I was debating going after him but I knew I couldn't catch up with him. I looked at the mask. There was the initials SI. I tucked the mask in my purse and walked down the streets, looking for my hotel.
That night I couldn't sleep. Not knowing my rescuers identity was killing me. I crawled out of bed and walked onto the balcony. I gave up on trying to sleep.
I wondered what those guys would've done if the guy with the mask wasn't there. I shuttered. I tried to forget everything. I tried to focus on Paris's beauty. The street lights were illuminating the abandoned streets. All of the lights in every store, and café were shut off. I guess they should be considering it was 4 in the morning.
My friends had an entire day planned for tomorrow so I needed rest. I crawled back into bed and slowly closed my eyes. By the time I fell asleep the sun was up in the sky.
I didn't even get an hour of sleep.
