"You're crazy!" My friend Savanna exclaimed, the first one to talk after I had told my best friends I was going to audition for the X Factor.
"You'll never make it!" She said, her red hair flying everywhere. "You'll just make yourself look like a loser in front of millions of people!" She said.
I looked over to the others for support. Emmy straightened up and said, " I agree with Savanna."
Before Savanna could respond , Shelby quickly cut in saying, "Well, I think it's a great idea!" and Mikala quickly nodded her head in agreement with Shelby, knowing if she spoke, she would probably get her head bitten off by Savanna.
" 3 to 2. I'm going to do it." I said, making the decision then and there. I always cleared stuff with my friends first, hoping the had good judgement.
"But there's a tiny problem." I said, and they all looked at me expectantly. "I don't know how to get to Seattle for the auditions." I admitted, feeling a little embarrassed that I had not thought this all through.
"You can take my dad's truck!" Shelby suggested. "But that also means I would have to go with you." She said, trying to suppress an irrepressible smile.
"Well, if Shelby' s going then I have to go too." Said Mikala with a firm tone that I couldn't refuse.
"I guess I have to go to keep you guys in line or you'll never make it to Seattle." Emmy said, with an almost motherly look on her face.
"What about you, Savanna?" I asked tentatively.
She sat there for a minute, just staring at us as if we were traitors or something. She then sighed and said in a melancholy voice, "I guess, but I still think it is a bad idea." She said.
"Thanks, Savanna." I said before turning back to all of them.
"So, when do we leave?" Asked Shelby excitedly. I felt a smile creep across my face. We were going to have so much fun.

My four friends and I all piled into the Shelby's dad's truck, and I turned the key In the ignition. It started up and I pulled out of the library parking lot that we had decided to meet in. I hadn't bothered with telling my parents or my sister anything about my plans. They wouldn't care anyways. The first hour or so went pretty well until Savanna decided to look in her bag for her phone.
"Shit!" Savanna said, holding her phone up to see how bad the damage was.
"What happened?" I asked, trying to keep my eyes on the road.
"My phone just got smashed by Mikala' s fat ass luggage!" Savanna snapped, obviously pissed.
"Savanna, calm down!" Mikala said putting a hand on Savanna's shoulder."It's not the end of the world." She said, rolling her eyes.
"That's easy for you to say! Your phone didn't just get smashed by luggage!" She said.
"Guys, guys! No fighting! We have 4 hours until we get to Seattle and I don't want to listen to you bicker the whole time!" I said, making my point. They shut up after that, to my relief. Mikala and Savanna were always fighting. They never agreed with each other. Savanna usually won though, usually threatening to break Mikala' s arm or something.
We eventually stopped at a taco time and got some food. Nobody really spoke the whole trip. I appreciated the quiet though. I was having second thoughts. What if Savanna was right? What if I did make a fool of myself? We got to our hotel and checked in then the other four decided to take look around the city while I stayed and practiced. I was then left in seclusion to ponder. Was I ready?
