a) present continuous dalam pengertian masa yg akan datang.
saat kalian berbicara tentang apa yang telah kalian rencanakan untuk dilakukan, gunakan present continuous (I am doing). Jangan menggunakan present simple (I do).
- A : What are you doing tomorrow evening ?
B : I'm going to the theatre.- A : are you playing football tomorrow ?
B : yes, but Tom isn't playing. He has hurt his leg.- A : Ann is coming tomorrow.
B : Oh, is she ? What time is she arriving ?
A : At 10.15
B : Are you meeting her at the station ?
A : I cannot, I'm working tomorrow morning.Ini juga memungkinkan untuk penggunaan going to (do) dalam kalimat-kalimat ini :
-what are you going to do ?
-Tom is going to play tennis on Monday afternoon.Tetapi present continuous biasanya lebih umum ketika kalian berbicara tentang perencanaan atau sesuatu yang telah direncanakan.
Jangan menggunakan will untuk berbicara tetang apa yang telah kalian rencanakan.
- What are you doing this evening ? (bukan 'what will you do?')
- Alex is getting married next month. (bukan 'Alex will get')b) present simple dengan artian masa yang akan datang.
kita mengunakan present simple ketika kita membicarakan soal jadwal, program, dll (contohnya jadwal bioskop, jadwal transportasi umum) yang biasanya dilakukan berulang-ulang dan tersusun.
- What time does the film begin ?
- The train leave Plymouth at 10.30 and arrives in London at 13.45
- The football match starts at 8 o'clock.
- Tomorrow is Wednesday.Namun kita tidak umum menggunakan present simple untuk perencanaan pribadi.
- What time are you meeting Ann ? (bukan 'do you meet')Jadi, sudah jelas dan bisa membedakan penggunaan present continuous dan present simple dalam pengertian masa yang akan datang ?
