From the outside nothing appeared out of the ordinary about the house. It was a large, double story brick faced home that; despite the grandeur of its design, was quite threatening in its stance and morbid in its appearance. The house- most commonly known as the Black Widow- was nestled amongst the low hanging trees and the bushy, untamed shrubs and plants. The house never saw the light of day and neither did the owner.

Rumour had it that the house was possessed but, that rumour only held certainty on Halloween. For the most part, the house was simply creepy. It was creepy because it was unknown- we always fear the unknown.

"Adam, come on lets go. I don't want to be here." Carl pulled on the sleeve of his best friends' shirt as he tried desperately to pull him away from the Black Widow house.

Adam shrugged off his friends' arm and continued to stare at the house. "I think I saw something move." He was staring at the window of the first floor, the same one that was dusty and neighboured the front door.

Carl groaned, "That's our cue to leave. Come on, this house gives me the creeps."

Adam snorted and grinned at his friend. "Everything gives you the creeps."

Carl huffed and glared at Adam. "Don't tease me. You've heard the stories about this place. Let's go, my moms' making her famous cream pie I know you love."

Adam hesitated before shaking his head. "No way. Come on, those stories were only told to scare us when we were kids. They aren't real."

"How do you know?" Carl questioned. "The witch inside that house isn't exactly the next Miss America."

"She isn't a witch."

"You don't know that."

"Well neither do you."

"How else do you explain all the disappearances then?"

Adam shrugged, "She's unlucky in love."

"No, you're unlucky in love. The witch is evil."

Adam frowned and nudged the thin shoulder of his best friend. "I am not unlucky in love. I just haven't mastered the art of seduction yet." Carl snorted. "Hey, you aren't any better. What was that line you tried on Carly in gym yesterday?" Carl looked away and blushed. "You don't remember? Should I remind you?"

Carl leaped forward and covered Adam's mouth with his hand. "Alright, stop teasing me. You promised never to mention that ever again."

Adam chuckled though the sound was muffled by Carl's hand. He raised his hands up in surrender and Carl relented by removing his own from Adam's mouth. "Can we please go now?"
