Chapter 25

[Leopardpaw's POV]

I hope I passed. I want to be a warrior already! It feels like forever ago when I was made an apprentice. I did my best on the assignment but it's up to the mentors and Midnightstar. I sat beside my siblings looking toward the leader's den expectantly. Soon I saw Midnightstar coming out of the den along with the mentors.

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High Rock!" Midnightstar called as she jumped onto the rock. Me and my siblings hurried over to the rock along with some of the kits. I forgot, most of them were becoming apprentices today as well. I felt a pang of sadness. My kits were all dead. I would never get to see them grow up now.

"First we have some apprentices to make warriors. They all did well on their assignments. Leopardpaw, please step forward." She called me up first. I kept my fur flat even though I was super excited. I stepped up looking up to her.

"From this day forward you shall be called Leopardtail for your spotted tail. StarClan honors you for your bravery in battle and strong heart." She said. I smiled proudly bowing my head as I heard the clan cheering my name. Tulippaw's voice was recognize able as she cheered.

"Heartpaw, please step forward." Midnightstar called next. I saw my sister step up as I curled my tail around my paws.

"From this moment on you shall be called Heartswift for your speed. StarClan honors you for your kindness." She said. Heartswift bowed her head.

"Heartswift! Heartswift!" I cheered loudly for my sister. She came next to me and flicked me with her tail trying to get me to shut up.

"Next, Aquapaw please step forward." Midnightstar called as my brother stepped forward. "From this day forward you shall be called Aquaclaw for your battle skills. StarClan honors you for your cool-headedness in the heat of battle." She said.

"Aquaclaw! Aquaclaw!" I could hear Tinypaw cheering the loudest out of all the cats. Aquaclaw came next to us trying not to look embarrassed from Tinypaw.

"Finally, Lovepaw, step forward." Midnightstar said looking to my other sister. She held her head up high as she walked up toward the jet black leader. "From this moment on you shall be called Loveheart for your kindness. StarClan honors you for your ability to help others." Midnightstar called out.

"Loveheart! Loveheart!" The clan cheered for the new warrior. She came back and sat with me and my other siblings. We were warriors now! I couldn't believe it.

"Now, we also have some kits that have turned six moons old. Witheredkit, Volekit, Deerkit, Sunkit, Icekit, Flowerkit, Honeykit please step forward." The leader called for the collection of kits. The kits all scrambled to be in the front. Midnightstar laughed a little.

"Witheredkit, do you agree to follow the warrior code and defend your clan with your life?" Midnightstar asked the black tom.

"I do." He said boldly his green eyes shining.

"Then from this moment on until you receive your warrior name you shall be called Witheredpaw. Nightscare will be your mentor.

"Nightscare, you may not have been in this clan long but I believe that you will be able to teach this young apprentice all that he needs to know." Midnightstar said. Nightscare smiled a little and Witheredpaw went over and sat next to his new mentor.

"Volekit, do you agree to follow the warrior code and defend your clan even if it means your life?" Midnightstar asked the next kit.

"I do!" Volekit squeaked his brown and black fur was ruffled and messy. Sunflare must have forgotten to fix it.

"Then from this moment on until you receive your warrior name you shall be called Volepaw. Softrose will be your mentor.

"Softrose, you are the newest warrior. I hope you can teach Volepaw all he needs to know." Midnightstar said looking to the two. I felt a ping of jealousy. She didn't deserve an apprentice. I deserved one.

"Deerkit, do you agree to follow the warrior code and defend your clan even if it means your life?" Midnightstar asked the brown and white spotted shecat.

"I-I do..." She stuttered shyly. She was just adorable.

"Then from this moment on until you receive your warrior name you shall be called Deerpaw. Stripeflash will be your mentor.

"Stripeflash, you are a brilliant warrior. I entrust you to show all that you know down to this young apprentice." Midnightstar said. Stripeflash, that was an odd choice. We have the shy and the bold put together. Maybe he will get her out of her shell.

"Sunkit, do you agree to follow the warrior code and protect your clan even if it means your life?" Midnightstar asked the golden shecat that looked just like her mother.

"I do!" She said boldly keeping her head up not daring look down.

"Then from this moment on until you receive your warrior name you shall be called Sunpaw. Shinyfall will be your mentor.

"Shinyfall, you are a great fighter and an even better hunter. I value your skills. I hope you teach all you know to Sunpaw." Midnightstar said. Sunpaw smiled and bounded over to my mother. I'm glad she got an apprentice. Sunpaw will keep her busy for sure.

"Icekit, do you agree to follow the warrior code and protect your clan even if it means your life?" Midnightstar asked the little tiny shecat standing up next to her big siblings

"I do!" The white shecat said loudly trying to stand out.

"Then from this moment on until you receive your warrior name you shall be called Icepaw. Fallingsparkle will be your mentor.

"Fallingsparkle, you are also a new warrior to our clan. I hope that you can teach this apprentice how to hunt and fight just as well as you." Midnightstar purred as she watched the tiny white shecat go over to Fallingsparkle.

"Honeykit, do you agree to follow the warrior code and protect your clan even if it means your life?" Midnightstar asked the small golden and white shecat.

"I'll try." She said looking up to Midnightstar being honest.

"Then from this moment on until you receive your warrior name you shall be called Honeypaw. Leafwhisker will be your mentor.

"Leafwhisker, you are a skilled warrior. I hope that you can pass your skills down to Honeypaw or help her develop her own." Midnightstar said down to the pair. One last kit and it was Flowerkit. I didn't think I would get an apprentice but I hope she gets a good mentor.

"Flowerkit, do you agree to follow the warrior code and protect your clan even if it means your life?" Midnightstar asked the golden and black shecat that looked like a mix of her parents

"I do!" She nodded agreeing with what the leader said

"Then from this moment on until you receive your warrior name you shall be called Flowerpaw. Skyleap will be your mentor.

"Skyleap, you are a brave shecat and even though your new to the clan I believe that you can teach this young cat all you know." Midnightstar said.

"Witheredpaw! Volepaw! Deerpaw! Sunpaw! Icepaw! Flowerpaw! Honeypaw!" The clan cheered loudly for the new apprentices.

"Meeting dismissed!" Midnightstar yowled.
