Chapter 10

~~~Katheren's P.O.V. ~~~
"You're kidding me," I moaned and fell back onto the bed. "I-I can't do this! Call it off! Call the wedding off, please."
"I heard that and it's not going to happen," I heard Daren yell through the closed door.
"Why don't you just leave already," Sabrina snapped back at him. "And Kate calm down, take a deep breath." I took a deep breath and continued to glare at her. "Now, tell me what the heck is wrong."
"What's wrong? What's wrong?! What's wrong is that I am too young for this, and I don't think that I am ready, and I just don't know!"
Sabrina laughed. "It's just the nerves. Everything will be fine and besides if you really aren't ready for this- which I am completely sure that you are- then you guys could always get a divorce."
"Oh hell no," Daren interrupted.
Sabrina and I both looked at each other. "You know? I think that is that first time that I have ever heard him swear," I said bewildered.
"Yeah, me too. I thought gentlemen didn't swear in front of women," she said in the same tone that I had.
"Ha ha, very funny," I heard Daren mutter. "Now will you please let me in there before I go mad?"
"I stick with what I said an hour ago," Sabrina snapped. "No! Now go play with Ryan."
"Ryan is on a date." Ryan was Daren's best friend since grade school, I had only met him a few times so I wasn't really sure what I thought of him yet.
"Then go...go do something! You aren't allowed to see her in her dress and you know it." The wedding was in two days and Sabrina had put the dress on me to make sure that it fit correctly and now was going through to triple check to see if I would look perfect for the wedding. That also seemed to include simulating the hairstyle that she wanted my hair in, so I had been sitting here for a long time while she tried out different styles. I didn't think that it was fun at all.
"How much longer?" Daren asked impatiently.
"As long as it takes. Oh, and it is nice to see that you aren't a perfect gentleman, then we would have to check if there was some kind of mental disorder because the way you sometimes act is just too damn perfect that it is scary."
"It was how I was raised and I tend to slip a little when I am... well I want to talk to Kates before she can totally talk herself out of this and I would like to be face to face when I do that."
Sabrina shrugged and then let it go. "What about this," she asked me before I could whine about them treating me like I wasn't in the room and able to hear exactly what they were saying.
I didn't even bother looking in the mirror. "If you like it, then I like it."
"Kate!" she yelled, exasperated. "This is your wedding, you should be helping me!"
"I am tiring to, Bri, but the hair, make-up, and dress are a lost cause on me, I only a major help on flowers because I used to help my mom with her garden every year." I closed my eyes against the on slot of memories that tried to overwhelm me and continued. "I am not sure if all of this is necessary anyway..."
"Yes it is," both Sabrina and Daren-who was still stuck on the other side of my bedroom door-said at the same time. "You can do this Kate," Sabrina told me, taking all the pins out of my hair. "Tell me this, do you love Daren?"
"But-"
"Do you love him?" she repeated.
"But I-" I started, but then gave it up and sighed. "Yes."
