A week has passed since Camila's first day teaching at school. Although she enjoyed her job as a teacher, but weekend has always been something she appreciated. Because of that, right at the moment, she laid on her comfortable bed with sheets un-tucked messily. One of her habits while sleeping. Un-tucking the bed sheet.
She snuggled deeper into the pillow, knowing it was probably still early in the morning. Though, her mind was begging her to get back to slumber, but her senses said the other way. Very much aware of her surroundings, still she tried anyway. Embracing the softness that her sheet giving her.
After a while of trying to no avail, she finally gave up. She grabbed her cell phone that was on the night stand, unlocked it then looked at the clock before going through unread messages. One particular message caught her eyes. A smile made it to her face. It was from her orphanage's chief in Boston, Mrs. Kate Roberts.
Mrs. Roberts (05.03 am) : How's my big girl doing? You haven't forgotten about this old woman already, have you?
Camila smiled at the text, shaking her head in amusement. This old woman, she thought. Mrs. Roberts liked to get up early in the morning, like really early in the morning. Somehow nothing seemed to change from the old woman.
She locked her phone after replying the text saying that she was doing fine and she's missed the older woman to the core, it hurt and not forgetting to ask how she was. Then she got out of bed, and went to the bathroom. After fifteen minutes, she was out of the bathroom and headed to the kitchen, where she found her best friend sitting on a stool and was about to brew coffee.
A warm smile crept onto her lips, smelling the coffee scent. Something she has been missing since the smaller woman was hospitalized. Ally's presence.
Ally was discharged from hospital and returned home yesterday.
A faint aroma of coffee came to her nose, warmed her heart. Camila wasn't a coffee drinker but she liked the smell of it. There was a sense of warmth and long she felt every time she smelled freshly brewed coffee in the morning.
Not like every other day, Ally would be the one to prepare breakfast for the both of them but today, Camila was the one who did it. She didn't want the injured woman to tire herself for she was still recovering.
Finished with their breakfast that consisted of pancakes, bacons and eggs, they were still talking as Camila washed the dishes. Suddenly she stopped rinsing a plate in her hands then titled her head up, remembering that they were running out of food supplies.
"Hey Al, I'm going to the grocery. Do you need anything?" She said turning her head to face Ally who was still sitting in her place before she continued with the dishes.
"I do but I think I want to come with you."
"Are you sure? Why don't you just stay in and rest. Let me do the shopping."
"Mila, honestly, I'm bored. I just want to be out and I don't think a little walk would hurt."
Camila gave up to Ally's request and told her to get ready. They were out of the apartment thirty minutes later, heading to the grocery. She drove for like twenty minutes before they finally arrived at the place. After parking her car, they both walked in side by side. Since the smaller girl's right leg was casted and had to use crutches to help that she walked slower than anybody else, Camila stayed beside Ally the entire way.
They strolled around the grocery store for a while, walking down the aisles, picking things here and there and putting them into the trolley. Until they stopped at snacks section, Camila looked down at the trolley and then turned to look at Ally who was standing by the shelf; eyeing the snacks.
