Prompt: Light
Writer: KatieI opened my eyes and saw nothing. Complete and utter... nothing. Pitch black. I stood up feeling unbalanced, only being able to use my sense of touch. I turned around several times hoping for there to be something. Anything, like color or even better, light. I walked onwards hoping for something to appear in this pit of nothingness. Just then... I saw a light. A dim light in the distance, but still a light. Hope. I ran full speed towards it only for it to disappear. I turned around and walked back to where I started. Then, another light but this time slightly brighter. I walked towards it for it to disappear again.
What is this some sick game? I thought to myself.
Pushing the thoughts aside I kept going, wherever that may lead me, expecting the light to return. And yet again, it came back. I followed, but this time it didn't go away. It stayed, growing brighter. All my thoughts went away as I went into the light. Then a voice appeared,
"Follow...the...light" a deep, soft voice echoed through the room. After the echo died down, another voice spoke.
"Leave the light alone, evil reaks from there..." A scratchy voice warned.
Wh-who do I listen to? I thought. It felt wrong to follow the light, as it also did to not follow. I decided to follow it. I cautiously walked into the growing, bright light to the point where everything in front of me was bright. My eyes took some time to adjust, once they did I saw a door.
Strange.. I thought.
"Don't...open...the...door" the deep soft voice returned.
"Open it" the other scratchy voice commanded.
I took a moment to decide.
I walked towards the door, reaching out for the handle, I hesitated. But eventually I opened the door, no light. Just darkness. I was stuck here. With only light and darkness, nothingness. I slammed the door and sat down in the light. Just the light.
