"Her necklace."
"Yes, her necklace."
"You want me to get her necklace?"
Stiles pushes Scott's head aside and pops his head in the doorway.
"Just get the necklace. This is life and death!"
I cross my arms and stare at the two boys who decided to bother me at 7:30 in the morning as I'm about to leave for school.
Scott sighs while Stiles silently seethes next to him. "Emma. You're her best friend. She'll let you borrow it if you ask her for it." Scott sounds desperate, but I'm not relenting.
"Let me get this straight. The two of you go for a little joyride with Derek last night and he tells you that Allison's necklace might have the key to finding the Alpha?"
"Yes. Yes, and since the Alpha is killing people-to death! -we need that necklace and you're the only one who can get it." Stiles pokes his head through the doorway once more.
I purse my lips and pretend like I'm thinking about it, before adopting a Lydia Martin-like tone of voice. "Hmm. No."
In sync, Scott and Stiles gape. Stiles is the first to recover. "Wha-what do you mean 'no'?"
"I mean no; I'm not getting her necklace from her."
"Why the hell not?" Stiles screeches. "Weren't you the one saying that you're involved now?"
"Yeah, exactly. I'm involved now. That means the two of you blockheads now have to include me in your little werewolf business." I give Scott a pointed look. "And going for a lovely midnight drive with Derek fits in that category."
"But we're including you now?" Stiles offers. I send him a quick glare before picking up my backpack and sliding it on my shoulders.
"Not good enough. I want in on the action." As I pass through the doorway I pat both of them on their chests. "You'll do good to remember that next time."
"But we were helping him catch the Alpha!" Stiles insists.
I stop in my tracks and spin around. "But did you catch him?"
Stiles places his hands on hips. "Uh, well, no."
"Didn't think so. So next time, include me in on it."
"Are you saying you could catch him?" Scott butts in.
"Oh hell no. I'm not the one with the plans. But there's always something I could do." I shrug and turn back around, heading down the stairs.
"Still not gonna get the necklace?" Stiles calls after me.
"Nope!"
"Unbelievable." Stiles sputters from behind me. I hear the two of them follow me down the stairs and outside where Stiles' blue Jeep is parked on the street in front of our house.
"Shotgun!" I call out. A split second later something whooshes past me and I stagger for a moment to regain my footing. When I catch my balance I look up to see Scott sitting in the passenger seat of the Jeep with a smug smile on his face. I narrow my eyes and stomp over to the Jeep, wrenching the passenger door open.
Grumbling to myself, I climb into the Jeep and squeeze into the backseat. Stiles clambers into the front and starts the engine, the Jeep rumbling to life.
"This is gonna be impossible, you know." Scott sighs.
"Why don't you just ask her if you can borrow it?" Stiles gives me a pointed look out of the corner of his eye and I return it with a sweet smile.
