Walking Through The Rain

I trudged through the rain, my feet making squelching noises through the mud. What a depressing day. I stop for a moment to watch a snail slowly trying to get out of a puddle so it doesn't drown. But it's dreams are crushed, a car comes past and crushes it, and gets me all soaked. So much for this umbrella.
I close my umbrella and march through the downpour, so many snails. I feel the water soaking my socks, and I feel my feet beginning to freeze. My toes go numb, and I lost all feeling from my legs. Am I even walking? Or is this a dream. I'm halfway home now, if I don't get my feet warmed soon, I might have to get my feet amputated. I smile at how ridiculous my thoughts are. My body is soaked, down to the bone.
I walk in a coffee store that just opened up, and at the same time I crash into a guy. I look up at him, and he looks down at his clothes. I inspect him quickly. He has shaggy, sandy blond hair. He is about six or seven inches taller than me, He's kind of cute... i guess. I blush at my thought. His electric blue eyes gaze over his now wet body.
"S-sorry," I stammer.
"Don't worry about it, I'm going out anyways." He mumbles at me. He pushes past me and walks out into the rain. That wasn't exactly... friendly. I walk into the cafe and see a fire. I say a quick prayer, thanking God for a fire to warm me.
I quickly sit down by the fire and take my boots off. I go in my wallet and I scramble to find money. I find a five dollar bill and a waitress comes up to me.
"One caramel hot chocolate with extra whip cream please." I tell her.
"Sure thing," she says in a Canadian sounding accent. I pull out the bun in my hair , and run my hand down my hair. It's drying slowly, showing my brown hair and blonde highlights. The bell rings from the door, and a I hear a guy's voice laughing, and telling someone goodbye. He then walks over to me and slouches in the chair next to me. I look down, not wanting to say anything awkward... like normal. But I sneak a glance to do my usual inspecting. His hair is short, but curly, with dark brown- almost black - dry hair. He's kind of pale. I recognize him... he's been in a few grades with me, but I just never payed attention to him... being the shy turtle I am. He must have used an umbrella. How did he not get completely soaked like me?
"Hey." He grins at me, showing his perfect white teeth. I look down again.
"Hi," I mumble quietly.
"You sure are chatty." I ignore him. "Okay, shy girl. I can handle that."
I open my mouth to say something when the waitress comes.
"Here you go, Miss. Hope you enjoy."
"Thanks." I hand her the five dollars. "You can keep the change."
"Thanks!" She looks over to the boy next to me. "Anything I can get for you?" I accidentally look back at him. I look closer and see that he has a lot of freckles and hazel eyes. He smiles again.
"I'll get whatever she got." He looks at me.
"Oki-Dokie." The waitress smiles at him, then winks at me. I feel my cheeks  warming up. She turns and leaves. I take a sip of my drink. And smile at the warmth.
"You know, you're kind of cute, I like your eyes. They kind of remind me of a storm." My eyes bulge, and i almost choke on my hot chocolate. He chuckles and I swallow the drink cautiously. I cough a little and blush. "Sorry, it's just that your eyes are very alluring." I look down again. No one ever mentions anything about my blue-grey eyes. "Oh. I didn't even tell you my name! I'm Kyle." He smiles at me. "What's your name?"
I want to ignore him, but I can't. "I'm Sophia." I say quietly.
"That's a really nice name. I like the way it sounds... Sophia..."  So do I, but it sounds really nice when he says it. Not that I'd ever tell him that. The waitress comes back with his drink. I take another sip, so does he, he sighs. "This is really good. You have a great taste in hot chocolate." He winks at me again, and I blush, chocking on my drink again. He just says what's on his mind. This is so awkward. I hear a ring, it's my friend Katie calling me. Thank you soooooooo much Katie! I pick up the phone and answer.
"Hello?"
"Hi Sacinell!" I sigh at her nickname she gave me, it's a mash of the words salty cinnamon roll. She's called me that since seventh grade. I'm shy most of the time until I get talking with her. That's the reason she calls me that. Everyone thinks I'm like a cinnamon roll, but I can be a sass queen sometimes, so she used to say that I was a cinnamon roll that was filled with salt instead of sugar.
"Hey Katie, what's up?"
"Just wondering if you wanted to come to a book signing in about five minutes. I can pick you up if you need to." She's lucky, she just got her driving license  last month. I'm getting mine soon. I turned sixteen this month, but I have yet to take my test.
"Yeah sure. I'm at that new coffee shop by The shook though."
"Okay! See you soon!"
"Bye." She hangs up and I start to get my boots on. Kyle looks up,
"Got somewhere to go?" He asks me.
"I don't have to tell you." I say to him. He throws his hands up.
"Sorry. I was born curious." He smiles and puts his hands back down and stands up. "At least let me get the door for you." Before I reply, he rushed to the door and held it open. I opened my umbrella.
"Thanks, I guess."
"Anytime." He winks at me again. Gosh, does this guy have an eye spasm or something? It's inhuman for him to wink so much. I walk out the door and see Katie's red Kia pull up. She grins.
"Who was that dude?" I glare at her. "Sorry for asking. Just curious." I sigh. "Why are you so glum today?" I force a grin.
"I'm not glum. I'm happy, see?" She rolls her eyes at me.
"Of course you are. Because I'm taking you to your favorite author." My eyes widen.
"No way."
"Yes way." She grins and steps on the pedal.
