Realize

6 1 1

I have to realize the blade in my actions
The knife in my reactions
That cut the blameless
It would be a lie to say I'm shameless
But regardless of whether I feel shame
For trying to make the blame
Someone else's pain
It still burns them the same

The flame deep inside ignites
Hurting the people who try to help my fights
Destroying a bond
That should've been long gone
But through their kindness
They stuck around trying to not be a witness
To the pain of another
A human being who just hurts others
Trying to take back
The pain after the fact
Knowing that they cut their friends
But I guess it all depends

How much pain are the friends willing to bare
To save someone who doesn't care
If they bleed, cry or fall down
Because they feel like they drown
In pain and suffering
Not realizing
That all they need is to ask for help
But instead all they do is yelp
In pain, hoping someone will reach a handout
And pull them out of their doubt

But people can't see what's in your heart
They don't know that you didn't want to tear them apart
You hope that aiding
And evading
Their friendships
Will get you through this
And give you a quiet moment of bliss
Where you don't have to fear
That everything you love will disappear

But you don't realize that you may be trying and crying
But so are others,
They might be lying
Concealing their crying
But they're still trying
To live on another day
And to search for another way

They're dying on the inside
Waiting for the pain to subside
They're crying for help too
You just don't realize 'cause you're too focused on you
You make excuses
Why you didn't see the nooses
The cuts on their wrists
Or their longing for a second of bliss
But you were too selfish
Not realizing that there are plenty of other fish

They need help like you
How could you possibly know what they've gone through
Rather than looking at your problems and feeling sad
Go out there and help someone who's doing bad
Stop staring in the mirror and complaining
You're just draining
The sympathy you have for yourself
Keeps you from achieving good mental health

You say you feel bad for hurting others
But in the same breath, you hurt another
Don't cut the pain away
Just live on another day
Keep reaching
Don't stop breathing
Don't forget the pain you bear
Just be glad about what you have to share
With the others like you

Who don't realize that it's true
That someone cares
And that people share
The same pain they do
And help them see that the sky is blue
That they can escape the heartbreak
That they have the power to stop the earthquake
That shatters their world
Make them realize they're a golden pearl
Give them a breath of fresh air
So they can deal with the burdens they bear
Live to give hope to others who feel smothered
Instead of destroying the hard work of mothers
