Nico and the Gotham Ghost

Hold you close

It's been two whole years since Nico meet Katie and Dick! Two
whole years he couldnt believe it! And now he was going to Gotham to see his little sis preform without a net for the first time! All this a few months before his cousin Percy might have to make a decision that could end the world.

   "Just a normal day in the life of a Demi-god." Nico thought as he walked into the big top of Haley's circus a few minutes before the Flying Grayson's were supposed to preform.

   "Nico! You came!" He heard as he was takled/hugged from behind by Katie.

   "Hey Nico!" Called out Dick Grayson the much calmer version of the two Grayson kids at the moment a few steps behind Katie.

   "Hey both of you. You guys ready for the big show?"

   "Yep! Born ready!" Dick replied confidently.

   Little did Dick know how true that statement really was.

   "Good." Nico said, glad that his little brother was all set to preform. "What about you Katie?"

   "I think I'm ready." She replied a little timid like.

   "Katie you're going to do amazing tonight just you wait and see."

   "Thanks Nico." Katie said, happy that her brother thought she was ready to preform without a net.

   "Are you staying for dinner tonight?" a hopeful Dick asked with pleading blue eyes, only backed up by the identical eyes of his little sister beside him.

   "We'll see alright. Things are a little busy back home right now and I might have to leave a little earlier then normal okay." Nico said and with good reason. Getting ready for the final showdown was a lot of work even though he would rather spend time with the Grayson's any day.

   "You'll be staying for the show though right?!? You'll see me and Dick on the trapeze?" Katie nervously asked, concerned that Nico leaving early meant that he would miss their performance.

   "Of course I'll be here to watch you and Dick perform, it's the reason why I come to the circus so don't worry about that Katie." he reassured her. "Now you guys better get back stage before the show starts." Nico said just then realizing that the show started in only 2minutes. "I'll see you after."

   "Okay! Bye Nico!"Dick yelled as him and Katie raced through the crowds of people trying to find seats to go find Mary and John Grayson.

   "Now to find a seat." Nico mumbled as he attempted to navigate his way through the sea of people as easily as the two acrobats had done mere seconds before.

   A few minutes later Nico was able to finally find a seat in the over crowded circus tent. Sadly he was really far back and he didn't have as good of view as he would like. At least he would be able to see the trapeze when the Grayson's preformed since it was up high.

   At that moment Mr. Jack Haley appeared in of puff of smoke announcing the beginning of Haley's International Circus.

   It was now close to the end of the show and time for the final act. The Flying Graysons! Katie was so excited! She was finally going to be allowed to perform without a net and Nico had even come to watch her!

   "Hey, you ready?" Dick asked Katie as they were about to start.

   "I think so." Katie said.

   "Don't worry, like Nico said you'll do amazing. Just remember to stay whelmed." Dick said, using one of their made up words to relive some of the unwanted tension.

   "Thanks Dick."

   "Welcome Katie. Now let's give Gotham a show to remember." With those last words the Grayson's jumped of the trapeze platform into the cold air of the Gotham night.

   And a show to remember they would give. A show that would be remembered with great sorrow for years to come.

   Nico watched as his sister and brother flew through the air. Diving and twisting along with their parents. Jumping, catching and trusting in one another. It was truly a work of art. And sometimes even for just one moment people in the crowd would swear that the Flying Grayson's had flown that night.

   Finally the show was coming to an end. The act had gone without a hitch! Nico was glad that Katie's debut had gone so well. But then in the final of the act Nico caught sight of the rigging. Something wasn't right. A split second later Mary and John Grayson crashed to the ground. The shattering of bone could be heard all throughout the tent accompanied by the shrieks of children and the gasps of parents. But above all the noises of the crowd was the crying of the Grayson kids.

   That was when Nico finally snapped out of his shocked state. Nico quickly tried to make his way through the crowd towards his little siblings. Sadly for Nico the crowd was not cooperating with him and obviously had no intentions of doing so any time soon. So Nico DiAngelo was left with the lovely option of shoving his way through the now traumatized crowds to reach Dick and Katie.

   After a good five minutes of shoving his way past people he finally reached the centre ring. In the middle of the ring were the bodies of the now late Mary and John Grayson and beside the bodies were the now orphaned Grayson siblings.

   Nico quickly sprinted over to the crying siblings and pulled them both into a bone crushing hug.

   "I am so sorry you two." Nico said as they both cried into Nico's shoulders.

   "Nico, why did Mami and Tati die?" Dick asked through the continuous stream of tears coming from the raven haired boys blue eyes. Eyes which had been just a bit ago filled with happiness and joy.

   All that Nico could say in response was, "I don't know Dick, I really don't know."

   Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman protecter of Gotham city watch the exchange between the strange boy and the Grayson siblings. He watched as the strange boy comforted the two Grayson kids and how they clung to him in desperation. In that moment Bruce made a decision. That as long as they needed a home he would leave his doors open to them. After all they needed a home just like he had needed the home Alfred had provided after his parents died.

Now that the shock had past for Nico DiAngelo all that he could think about was what was going to happen to his little brother and sister? What would the people of Gotham decide to do with the Grayson orphans?

Police commissioner Jim Gordon watched from the side lines as the Grayson kids were comforted by the odd boy. He had been called a few minutes after the tragic fall of the late elder Grayson's. All that he could do now was try to fathom what they must be feeling now. But try as he might he could not even begin to understand what might be going on in their brains.

A moment later Jim could feel someone watching him from behind.

"Jim?" he relaxed at the sound of his old friend Bruce Wayne's voice.

"Yes Bruce?" He replied.

"What will happen to them now? Now that their parents are dead?" Bruce asked true concern heard in his voice by Jim.

   Jim sighed thinking of the fate that was most likely awaiting the two Grayson kids. "They'll be put into foster care Bruce, and hopefully someone nice will take them in."

   But Bruce knew how unlikely that was. Most likely the two of them would be put in separate homes with people who would be less then sympathetic towards the trauma they had just gone through.

   "Jim, would I be able to offer the Grayson's a home?" Bruce offered.

   Jim looked shocked for a moment taking in the fact that the billionaire wanted to open his home to the two orphans. "I'm sure that the Foster care agency would be open to that idea Bruce you'll just have to talk to them when they get here." He told him after his few minutes of contemplation.

   Katie cried. She cried so hard. She still couldn't understand what had happened. How had they fallen? They had never fallen before, it didn't make sense. And now all she could do was cry , as her brother Nico held her close.
