Sun light faltered through the white window shades, burning through my eyelids, and forcing them to open. I opened my phone, and saw that there was 307 text notifications and thirty phone calls from Harry. I rolled my eyes and sunk my face back into my pillow before deciding to get ready.
I took a nice steaming hot shower, applied makeup to my face, and put on some comfy clothes. I wore a plain white shirt, some faded skinny jeans, black hightop converse, and a loose maroon infinity scarf. Then I put my thick blonde hair into a bun, and let my curly baby hairs frame my round face.
Finally, grabbing my camera, I left my apartment and wondered my way to Central Park, where the air was fresh and the mood was light. Children played with some dogs, while the parents talked to each other. Birds chirped and the wind blew ever so slightly. I sat on my bench, and squinted through my bulky Camera to catch a glimpse of the beautiful scenery.
I snapped a picture of the rising sun, that crept over the tall surrounding buildings. These are the days I always look forward to. The only happiness I get, is with my camera, and the peace from the park. The only thing ruining it, was a man in a woolen black trench coat, with light black jeans. He looked as though he just came back from the Land of the Depressed.
I didn't mind that much, but I sure did when he turned around so I could see his face. It was Harry. Why was he here? Out of all places? I guess he needed to clear his head. I packed up my things, because I was still pissed.
Then the worst happened. He locked eyes with mine and there was no wait. He quickly walked over, no hesitation in his pace, but I sprung off the bench in a heartbeat. I pretty much ran to my car, but he was much faster than I was and he seized my wrist making me spin around with tears in my eyes. I never let them fall though. Maybe it was because so much anger welled inside me.
"Madelyn-"he began, but as my eyes bore through his, he shut back his trap.
"You said, Harry. You promised!" I spat out. "Why?"
"Why what? That I forgot? Madly-"
"Please don't call me that." I faintly murmured, and he looked down.
"Madelyn. While I was at that boarding school, I learned to forget this place. And that included you. I'm sorry... I should've..." he pinched the bridge if his nose, and that's when I yanked my hand from his grasp and unlocked my car door where I drove home, leaving Harry standing awkwardly in the road. His icy eyes followed my car, until I rounded the corner, and disappeared.
________My phone rang. It was Harry, so I declined and put it on Do Not Disturb. Then the doorbell rang, and I went to answer it, leaving my warm comforting couch. Looking through the little circle glass, I examined the person, and my heart leapt. I swung open the door and cried,"PETER!" He picked me up in a hug, and set me down with a huge smile plastered on his face.
"Madelyn! How are you?" he asked, and then a blonde girl with dazzling dark blue eyes, came in, too. It was Gwen Stacy. That son of a gun still had her wrapped around his finger.
"You know, I'm doing pretty good considering I got fired yesterday and I bumped into Harry who hardly even knew who I was. Hey Gwen!"
"Hey...Madelyn... isn't it?" I nodded and we gave each other a hug. She would always hang out with Peter when we were in the senior year, but that's when me and Peter both split apart, and became distant friends, so it was just me, Brinkley and Sam.
"So I'm guessing you two are still together?" I ask.
"Yeah. It's complicated... we break up, then get back together," Peter explained, and Gwen shoved him teasingly, making us all laugh.
"So... guess what?" I chirped. I had to tell this to someone, and these are the only two human beings who would listen and know what I was feeling.
Peter had a confused smile,"What?"
"I ran into Harry," I sniffed, then after a long pause,"He didn't remember me, Peter. He promised me." And I ran to give him a hug, while tears flowed. It couldn't be like this forever. At some point I would have to suck it up and move on.
But for now, I cried into his shoulder, and even Gwen placed a hand on my back for support. After she went and got me twenty tissues, I stopped crying, and looked up at them.
"I loved him. And I remembered him. When I asked him who his first kiss was, he acted like I was nothing. Just a sheer memory of nothing."
"Madelyn... I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine..." Peters voice trailed off, and I looked up at him through wet puffy eyes. I needed to get it together. I can't be weak for this.
"Thanks, Pete."
"Don't even start." We laughed while I told the the inside joke about all the nicknames the young trio had gave each other. Then we went into every inside joke story we remembered, telling Gwen hilarious jokes and happy memories. I felt free from the sadness that buried itself inside me this week. Free from stress, or jobs. A free joyful spirit.

By the end of the day, after watching three movies, and going out to eat, Gwen Stacy had become my friend. Probably best friend. Peter and I also became friends... again. After saying good bye to them and tons of thank you's, they left which left me to sit on my bed and read a book.
While reading, I glanced over at my phone three times before giving up on the book and dialing Harry's number. One ring... two rings... three rings... four-
"Madelyn."
His voice was distressed, and thick, as though he'd been crying... or drinking. His voice pierced my heart, making it beat faster and faster. Why did I even call? I didn't really want to sort out my feelings with him... but what choice did I have. You have a lot of choices, idiot, my conscience hissed at me. I decided to try to talk to him in person, and not be the little wuss I am.
"I need to talk to you... in person, please."
"Yeah, of course! Where?"
"I don't know. Central Park?"
"On my way now." And he hung up.
