Human Adaptation (Theory)

Skin colors are apart of human adaptation. Because of where a person ancestors were born depends on a person's skin color. What if we could change a person skin color. I mean yes it would take.... Probably thousands of years, but if my thoughts are correct it could happen.

As an example, Africans. They have a variety of skin colors, but they are all very much different than a Europeans skin color. Because of ancestors long ago, Africans today are dark skinned, or "black". My thinking goes like this.

If a African, or any dark skinned person, was to live in a place without as much harsh light as their environment does for a period of time, would their skin color change?

Could a person go from "black" to "white"? And if not, in the far future will there even be a "white" race? Will we all reproduce together and, poof, all be dark or brown?
