"Alexander," a voice shook him awake.

In panic he lifted his head and checked over himself. His hands were clean except for the missed spots under his nails. The room was tidy and clean as if he hadn't done anything suspicious.

"Alexander what is the matter?" a dark figure loomed over him.

"Dante?" Alexander was a bit surprised. "Why are you here?"

"Parkis sent me, after he found Pharos, he told me to make sure you were still alive." He looked down with icy dead eyes.

"Of course I'm still alive," Alexander snapped.

"Unlike the others yes," there was a sadness in Dante's voice. "Nevermore, I just came to check on you, make sure you were cleaned up before the ceremony today."

"I'm fine," Alexander tried to inspect himself again.

"I can see them you know; their souls follow you." Dante spoke quietly.

"What...?"

"The dead souls, they are angry and confused, they keep asking questions and shouting at you but you don't reply." He looked by the window where the maid girl was tossed away. "And Kage, she just keeps staring at you. Corinne is crying but she can't talk, and the girl is trying to hit you but she can't get close enough."

"Can't you do anything about them?" Alexander shuddered at the feeling of being watched all night.

"I can," Dante looked back at Alexander, "but should I?"

"Please, this is freaking me out." He felt sick and afraid.

"Parkis was the same way, but he figured out how to suppress souls." Dante looked away. "I thought maybe you were different."

Alexander left out a huff of air, "a cloth shoved in their throat, of course."

"You can stop this you know... You can leave with me, I'll teach you to be a reaper if you want, and you won't have to be a slave to Parkis anymore." Dante grew desperate in his attempt to change Alexander's mind.

"It's already been arranged; I've already went through with this." Alexander brought his knees up to his chest.

"I'll make the spirits go away, they won't bother you anymore." Dante said getting closer towards Alexander.

"I cannot feel them anyways," he looked around but could see nothing.

Dante sighed, "Over time they will get stronger until they break the fabric between your world and our world."

Alexander hid his face in his arms and began to weep. He didn't want this anymore; he just wanted to have a normal life. He just wanted to be with someone or some people who made him happy. But then he remembered he couldn't truly be happy, he couldn't feel anything anymore, the tears he cried, they were out of pressuring frustration.

"I can't go with you; I can't feel anything. I'm just numb inside." Alexander lifted his head and wiped away his false tears. "Going with you would only bring more misery into your life. There would be nothing gained from me."

"I can teach you those things. I can teach you to feel again." Dante smiled a bit. "I wish that I could have had someone tell me to change my path, but I didn't. So I want to do this for you."

"Don't you get it?" Alexander stood up, "I can't be changed!"

"Don't get angry Alexander, just sit down." Dante's voice shook in panic at the sudden defense of Alexander.
