VENGENCE IS MINE

. Donovan cleared his throat and smiled to his waiting parishioners. He wasn't exactly sure how he should start. He'd written down most of what he wanted to say, but he needed to soften the blow of the delivery. Good morning family, he waited for their responses to die down before proceeding. Open your Bibles to Job, Chapter 14 and Verse 14. Donovan read the passage aloud. "If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come."

Today I want to take a minute and speak with you about transition. As we all know our lives are in constant transition, some expect, some unexpected. I've gone through a lot of transition right here at Good Fellowship. I grew up here, I was practically born in this sanctuary, he chuckled and the audience laughed with him. I grew up and served on many auxiliaries along with my brother JJ. This was our home away from home. I performed my first sermon here, threw up my dinner right outside that door before it began he laughed with the audience.

Three years ago I introduced my church family to my son. Donovan looked over at Darius and saw the blush creep across his face. He is one of the many things in this life that I've been blessed with. He is selfless, a great big brother and inspires me everyday. He's gone through many transitions in the past three years and soon he will transition into the role of a teen driver. The parishioners groan playfully and laughed. Oh believe me when you see him coming be wise and move out of the way. Everyone laughed as Darius buried his face in Brocus' shoulder.

Seriously though he is the best son, a father could ask for, he has a golden heart and I love him with no ending. The crowd ah'd together at the sentiment. My other joy is my little bundle of energy Kiva. She will be graduating from kindergarten this year. Time is so flying by. Familytake the time to really get to know your children and let them know they are important. One day before I know it, Kiva will be married with kids of her own.

"No Daddy! Kiva shouted I'm staying with you. The room erupted with laughter.

Okay Dunkin, you stay with Daddy as long as you like, Donovan laughed.

Some transitions he continued are welcomed and well within your control, they are planned, but sometimes life takes us by surprise and transition takes place in the blink of an eye. Simply enough, someone can enter your life and change it in the blink of an eye. You fall in love sometimes in unexpected circumstances. Donovan locked eyes with Brocus. Love has several layers of transition all on its own it can start as rapid as a whirlwind and build to the heights of Everest or dwindle to the depths of the Death Valley.

The heart wants what it wants is often said by many who found they've had to leave relationships for others or felt the need to pursue others in the heart's race to get what it wants.

Donovan blinked at a silhouette moving to the front of the church. The ushers having sat down to enjoy the service long ago would have never allowed a late arrival to wander to the front of the sanctuary and interrupt service. Donovan cleared his throat and tried to push on in spite of the distraction.

Sometimes he began again.

"Sometimes you leave your wife for a man," Patrice shouted. The audience gasped. "Go on Donovan tell them how you've left your wife to be with Brocus Carrington."

Donovan was speechless at the sight of her. She was disheveled, her attire was a mess she looked as if she'd dressed in the dark. Her hair was a tangle mess clinging to her face. The look in her eyes was feral and it frightened Donovan. Uh, Patrice--

Shut up! She shouted. I'm talking don't you interrupt me again, she said, and raised the gun squarely at him.

The audience gasped. Donovan could see movement in the rear of the room. He could clearly make out people rushing for the door in his peripheral. He heard someone shout she has a gun and more panic ensued with the sound of footsteps retreating from the room. Patrice remained motionless and stared Donovan in the eyes.
