"Boys will break your heart. Real men will pick up the pieces." -Drake

"So, what's the plan again?" Jennifer repeated for the fourth time that afternoon. It was to the point where it was starting to drive Carson and Jase crazy.

"You and Garrett are going to stay at the warehouse," Jase sighed, taking a sharp turn on the bumpy road. "Everyone in the gang stays there, so you both will be protected. You two are going to stay with us until the Wests gang gives up."

"Please tell me that Garrett and I get our own room!" She pleaded, jetting out her bottom lip.

"Nice try sweetheart," Jase smirked. "You're going to be staying with me. And stop pouting! You know that you are secretly happy inside. Every girl would die if they heard me say that."

Jennifer scoffed, rolling her eyes as she gave Garrett his favorite stuffed animal; Georgie the Giraffe. "I'm not just every girl, Jase. I'm your son's mother. That's all I'll ever be to you if you keep this confidence up."

"Jen, I've been with tons of girls and probably got them pregnant," He shrugged, not having a care in the world. "You aren't an exception."

As he said those words, she heard her heart crack a little. Especially when he said his last sentence. She decided to ignore it and not show any emotion about her little heartbreak. "A-Are we almost there?"

Her voice cracked slightly when she finally spoke. Are you serious? She asked herself. I can't believe my voice actually cracked, now they will think that I seem weak. She shook off her self-scolding and forced a fake smile.

Jase looked through the rearview mirror to see her. She looked like she lost the light in her eyes. Like she was dead inside. Somehow, he managed to get the thought out of his head. "Yeah, just when we make the next turn we'll be there."

Jennifer nodded, blinking back the tears as she continued her scolding for how weak she probably seemed to a strong man like Jase. Her own son sensed there was something wrong in the atmosphere, but decided to leave it alone. She felt the car stop, making her look up to see what was going on outside of her trance. The car was parked in front of the same building she went to at the beginning.

She unbuckled Garrett out of his carseat once she climbed out of the truck. She picked him up, setting him on her hip. Jase walked over to her and Garrett and gave them a bright smile. "Jen, I said I was sorry that you have to stay with me over here. I know you most likely won't like it here, especially when it has drinkers and smokers."

"I can deal with it," Her lips fell to a flat, straight line. "It's just that Garrett needs to stay away from the smoking."

"Why?"

"Because he has lung problems really bad."

Jase gave her a suspicious look. He somehow knew that there was more to the story of Garrett's lung problems, but once he saw the pleading look on her face, he didn't push it. Garrett reached his arms over towards him, making Jaase truly smile. "Daddy! Mommy, can Daddy pwease howld me?"

Jennifer nodded, handing Garrett over to Jase. Even though she hated the idea of Garrett wanting his father more than her, she still smiled at the sight of the two with each other. It was always a good father and son moment. They all walked inside the warehouse. Jennifer looked around, seeing a young boy that looked only 17.

"Max!" Jennifer squealed happily, hugging the boy to death. "I missed my favorite little gangster!"

"Jenny!" Max mocked with a smirk, standing up from his seat at the gambling table. "I've missed you too! I can't believe it's been two full years."

"Yeah, it's been a while," She smiled sadly at him, releasing herself from the reunion hug. "I'm proud that you didn't get deep into the gang business, with the drugs, alcohol, and smoking."

Max replacede the smirk with a small smile, flipping his blonde hair out of his face. "Thanks. So, is that the little guy I've been hearing about around here?"

Jennifer smiled happily as she tore Garrett out of Jase's hold and placed him in Max's arms. "I'm glad my guardian child knows about his nephew Garrett. I'm sure he's going to love you since you're kind of still a kid yourself."

Max ignored the "you're immature" statement and started making silly faces at Garrett. Like he hoped, the toddler started laughing. "He's so cute, Jenny. Who does he get it from? You or Jase?"

"From me of course," Jase joined in the conversation, kindly taking Garrett from Max's hold. "Jennifer surely wasn't nice and cute when she gave birth to him."

Jennifer rolled her eyes, smacking Jase upside his head. "Stop being such an asshole when people try to compliment me and my son. You just ruin everything!"

"Whatever, Jennifer," He grunted lowly, showing he was now irritated with her. "Just let me show you where you're going to sleep."

She nodded silently, walking behind him as he went up the metal stairs. She surely took a future note that she wasn't going to leave Garrett alone here if there was stairs. Especially metal stairs. They walked into a large room that held a brand new toddler bed inside next to a queen-sized bed.

"So this is your room?" Jennifer asked, admiring the room's beauty. She was surprised that it wasn't dark and boring like Jase. "It's beautiful."

"Thanks," Jase replied bluntly, setting Garrett down on the large bed. "I didn't know if you would like it or not. Sorry that we have to sleep in the same bed."

"It's alright," She said quickly, giving him a reassuring smile. She knew this was insane for him. He would never be willing to do this, but he kind of had to. "I should be used to it anyways. I was with you for 2 years."

Jase's face flashed with pain, but left as quickly as it came. "Jen, can we please not talk about our years spent together? I don't like talking about it."

Her eyebrows furrowed together as her heart sunk a little. Did that mean he didn't truly love her back then? No, it couldn't be that. Back then, she could see it in his actions that he loved her. "O-Okay I won't."

He nodded, thanking her silently. He noticed that what he requested made her face fall a little. "Jen, I didn't mean it the way you thought I did."

"How did you mean it then?" She questioned. She didn't mean it to sound so harsh though. She turned her body away from him to avoid his broken eyes.

"I...I can't tell you," He mumbled as he moved closer to her. He placed his hands on her waist to turn her around so they could face each other.

She removed his hands from her waist, not daring to face him. She knew that if she looked into his eyes, she would forgive him. "Why can't you tell me? It's about us!"

His face fell a little once he realized she wasn't going to look at him. He shook the thought off though. "You're right. It is about us. It's just that I can't tell you. You'll know when the time comes. I'm sorry."

"Yeah right," She blurted out doubtfully. "I think we both know that you will never tell me. You just won't open up."

"Cause I'm a gang leader, Jennifer," He snapped quickly. "I can't open up. At all. Especially around my gang and enemies! They'll know my weaknesses."

"Then what are your weaknesses?"

Jase mentally rolled his eyes. At least Jennifer was true to herself. She was a dumb blonde at times alright. He turned her around and pinned her against the wall. "I can't believe you don't know... I did love you for two years and have a kid with you. Does that ring something?"

"Like you fucking care!" Jen spat into his face in a low tone. She did not want her son repeating those words. "You bailed on me when I fucking told you about him! You should be glad I didn't put a damn child support charge on your dumb ass."

"I would have went to jail for not paying it anyways. And you're missing one thing about that scold. I do care. It may not look like it, but I do."

"Whatever." She hissed under her breath, sitting down on the master bed next to Garrett. One of the things she ultimately hated was arguing/fighting with Jase. He always made her feel guilty when they fought. Garrett was playing around with the sheets on the bed and somehow managed to get tangled in all of it.
