It's Just Complicated

Chapter 1

Ebony

6:00 am

I woke up and put on my robe. I have to work today & Onyx has school. I went downstairs and started making us some breakfast. After the breakfast was done I walked upstairs to wake Onyx up. "Onyx baby ?" I walked over to her bed and lightly shook her. "Mommy I don't wanna go to school." She rolled over and her curly hair was everywhere. "You have to baby , mommy has to work. But I promise , when you get out of school I'll take you to the park and we can get ice cream." I smiled and held out my pinky. "Pinky pwomise ?" She smiled. "I pinky promise baby."

I picked her up and went to her bathroom. Yes her bathroom is attached to her room. "I want a bubble bath mommy." Onyx smiled and started taking off her clothes as I ran her bath water. "Okay baby." I put the bubbles in and she hopped right in , washing her face and body , along with her hair."I'm ready to get out now mommy." She stood up and I rinsed her off. She hopped out and put on her little robe then went to the sink and brushed her teeth. When she was done , we walked downstairs and ate.

I washed our dishes and the dishes I used to make the food as Onyx watched bubble guppies and danced to the music. "Mommy , I wanna get dressed." She jumped off the couch & walked toward the stairs. "Okay." We went to her room and she got dressed. "Go watch cartoons baby. Don't get those clothes dirty either ." I said . "Okay I wont mommy." She ran down the stairs and I guess watched TV.

I picked out my clothes and took a shower , I didn't wash my hair because I wanna wear it straight today , if my hair will cooperate. I hopped out and brushed my teeth and washed my face. I got dressed and did my makeup then flat ironed my hair , it was a success.

"Onyx , you ready baby ?" I said walking down the stairs. "Yep. Let's go mommy." She stood by the door and waited for me to get my purse,phone, charger, and keys. I cut off all the lights and locked the door. We got in my Black Charger 2016 and I buckled her up, making sure it was tight. I turned on her ABC songs and we drove to her school.

"Bye mommy I love you !!" Onyx yelled as she kissed my cheek and jumped out running to her teacher who was waiting by the door. Her teacher , Mrs. T , waved and I waved back , pulling off to work.

8:45 am

I walked to the door of my job and unlocked it. I had to open today. I turned on all the lights and sat my things down at my desk which is the first thing you see when you come in , other than the sitting area.

I cut on my computer and began sending the details on this party that Wiz khalifa is having.

*Bing*

I stopped typing and picked up my phone , it was a text from an unknown number.

Unknown- is this the receptionist of Atlantic Records ? Ms. Ebony Helms ?

Me😍- yes this is she . May I ask who this is ?

Unknown- the manager of the new client. You should be receiving an email about him. And his phone number is attached to the email. Please call & make an appointment for him to see your boss. Thank you.

*Beep beep*

I looked up to my computer screen and had an email.

I forwarded it to my boss and put the number in my phone , calling this"client" .

It rang for 2 dial tones and someone answered.

"Hello ?" A man's voice answered.

"Yes is this the new client of Atlantic Records ?" I asked grabbing a piece of paper and a pen.

"Yes this is him. Who is this ?" He asked.

"I'm the receptionist and assistant to the boss and company. May I ask what your name is ?" I asked.

"Oh yea , August." He said.

"Well mr. August , can you be here by 10  o'clock ?" I asked writing down his name.

"Yea. I can be there." He spoke.

"Alright. Don't be late , Mr. Howard hates to wait." I said.

"Okay."

I hung up the phone and texted my boss telling him that Mr. August would be in at 10. He replied "ok" and left it at that.

I sent some emails , ran a few things upstairs and filed a few things when two people came through the door. A tall darkskin man , and ...... Oh . My. God. No. No no no no !! It can't be him !! No I'm seeing shit ! Oh my god it's him !! They got closer and HIS facial expression changed quickly. From blank , to scared , to sad , to happy , then back blank.

"Hello , we're here for the 10 o'clock meeting with Mr.howard." The tall darkskin man said.

"Name ?" I asked , acting like HE wasn't even there.

"August Alsina." HE spoke , he stared at me trying to see if I would remember his name.

"Ah , yes. Mr. Alsina , you're a few minutes early so you'll have to wait for Mr. Howard to get out of his meeting.

"Alright. Can I ask you what your name is ?" He looked closer.

"Ebony . " I smiled and pretended like I didn't know who he was.

"Beautiful name." He spoke.

"Thank you. " I simply said and began typing on my computer. 

*Bing*

I looked over at my phone and it was a text from ... HIM.

Unknown- I know you know who i am ma . Don't play stupid.

Me😍- I know who you are , I wish I didn't. Leave me alone.

Unknown- chill , I'm sorry .

Me😍- well take your "sorry" ass away from my life , again !!

Unknown- can't do that.

Me😍- you can . And you WILL .

Unknown- nah , I won't.

I just left it alone .

"Ebony I'm ready for the next client." Mr. Howard spoke from the machine.

"Yes sir" I spoke back.

"Mr. Alsina , mr. Howard will see you now. "

He got up and walked to my desk. "Meet me at the café around the corner on your lunch break... Please ? Just lemme explain." He begged .

"The entrance is that way sir. " I pointed over to the door & he walked there.

I can't believe I'm about to do this .
