It's Just Complicated

Chapter 3

August

I woke up and looked to my right. Ebony was sleeping peacefully. I slowly slid out of the bed and went down the hallway to Onyx's room. I opened the door and she woke up. "Daddy ?" She said rubbing her eyes.

"Yes baby girl?" I walked in and sat beside her on her bed.

"I gotta go potty." She stood up and grabbed my hand.

We walked to the bathroom attached to her room. She did her business and washed her hands.

"You hungry ?" I asked as we walked downstairs.

"Yesh daddy. Me always hungry."  She sat at the island in the kitchen and turned on the TV that was on the counter.

"Does mommy ever talk about me ?" I sat in front of her and looked at her.

"She says that you was on a twip. And that you couldn't cwall because you hurt your phone." Onyx chewed on one of her fingers.

I'm actually happy that Ebony didn't tell her I kicked her out and didn't want a baby. It would've made Onyx think that it was her fault I left.

"Oh okay." I kissed her forehead and looked around the kitchen for something to cook. I decided on bacon, pancakes, eggs, and grits. I began cooking.

I finished cooking and fixed Onyx a little plate with some cut up pancakes, a piece of bacon, and some eggs. I put some orange juice in her sippy cup and gave it to her.

"Daddy this is gooooood." Onyx smiled with a mouth full of pancakes and syrup on her hands and face.

"Thank you baby girl. Guess what ?" I said.

"What daddy ?" She ate more pancakes.

"Mommy's birthday is coming soon." I said looking at her.

"REALLY?" she put her syrup covered hands on her cheeks with a surprised look on her face. (🙉)

"Yep. We gotta do something real special. You done ?" I asked.

"Yepp. Me done." She held her plate out to me.

"Okay sticky baby. Let's go getchu cleaned up." I picked her up, syrup covered face and all, and we went to her room to give her a bath.

I put some bath bubbles in and some of her bath toys and started her in the tub. We played with her toys and put bubbles in her hair. I recorded her and put her on Snapchat. She laughed and played with her toys for a while.

Ebony

I woke up to the sound of my baby laughing and hearing water splash. I grabbed my phone and I went to her room and peeked in her bathroom seeing August getting splashed with water and Onyx laughing hard. I recorded them having fun and put my phone away.

"Having fun I see." I opened the door and smiled.

"Hi mommy! Me and daddy are having a bubble war!" She smiled big and put more bubbles on August's face.

"I see. Hey Aug." I smiled at August and he smiled back.

"Hey E." He picked up some of the bubbles and sat them on Onyx's head.

"Alright munchkin. Time to get out."  He rinsed Onyx off and wrapped her in a towel. " I made breakfast, go downstairs and eat ma." He picked Onyx up and sat her on her bed so he could pick out her clothes.

"Okay. If you need me just yell." I said. I walked downstairs and fixed me a plate.
