I know y'all prolly cussed me out a few times for kicking Ebony out like I did, but I was young and I wasn't ready to be a dad. I was scared. But now , I'm grown. I wanna take care of my child. I wanna make up for those lost years. I have to.

Ebony

I walked outside and to my car. I grabbed my wallet and locked my doors. I slowly walked around the corner to the café. I saw August and immediately thought to turn around and run back,but he saw me. I walked to the table he was at and took a seat.

"Ok. So what do you want ?" I asked bluntly.

"To see my child. To make up for the years I lost." He replied sadly.

"You didn't lose those years , you chose to give them up August." I looked dead in his eyes.

"I know and I'm sorry Ebony. I'm sorry I kicked you out. I'm sorry I gave up on us. I'm sorry for everything. Please just gimme a chance. I need to see my child and love him or her the way I should've." He was now on his knees with his arms wrapped around my legs and his head buried into my thighs. I could feel his warm tears falling onto my pants.

"August... One day. I'll give you one day with HER. But I have to be there." I sipped on the water that the waiter had brought me.

"Foreal ?" He looked up at me with red eyes.

"Yes August. But she can't know that you're her father until I'm ready to tell her." I said making the rules.

"Okay. How about Friday ? I'll pick yall up and take you to lunch , then to the park. That ok ?" He asked sitting in his seat.

"Yea. But I have to go."I grabbed my wallet,phone, and keys and walked out the door to my car and got in. I pulled off and a few minutes later, pulled up to Onyx's school. Onyx was waiting for me by the door with a few of her friends. When she saw me pull up she ran towards the car and waited for me to come around to the side she was on.

"Hi mommy, today a nice wady came to tawk to our cwass." She said as she hopped in.

"What did she talk about ?" I asked buckling her in.

"She tawked about the cowors and swapes and wines." She smiled and held a picture with circles, triangles, squares, and a whole bunch of different colors on it.

"That's so pretty baby! Can mommy put it on the fridge ?" I asked , getting in the driver seat.

"Yesh mommy. We have to wet our friends see my artwork." She threw her hands up and cheesed really hard.

"Okay baby doll , you want something to eat ?" I asked pulling off.

"Yesh mommy. I want burger kwing." She pointed out the window.

"Alright baby." We pulled off and into the drive through at Burger King.

We got our food and went home. I gave Onyx a bath and put her in her pajamas. "Go eat in your room baby." I gave Onyx her chicken nuggets and sippy cup and she ran off to her room.

I stripped out of my clothes and ran a warm bath for me. I slid in letting the water go up right above my nose, and relaxed. *Bing* I picked up my phone and saw I had a message.

August😴- can I please come by tonight ? Just for a few minutes ?

I thought for a minute and decided to let him.
