"Hello, mum?" I called out, walking in after closing the door. "Mum?" I asked again, setting my shit in the cubby hole. "Jake, is that you?" Mum replied, she must be upstairs in the bath or something.

"Yeah, it's me." I called out to her. I feel really thirsty after a good walk in the forest, how about some water? I walked into the kitchen, turning on the light and grabbed out two pint glasses out of the glass cupboard. "Jake, would you come up here for a second?" Mum asked me.

Did I say "two"? Yeah, I'm getting water for me and my wee mammy! While I called out to mum that I'll be up in a second, I went to the freezer, placed some ice chunks in our glasses, walked over to the sink and filled the glasses up with cold water.

Walking upstairs, wearing a school uniform with a couple glasses of icy water makes me look like a cocktail waiter. Now, where would mum be? "Where are you at?" I asked her. "In my room, darling." She replied.

I walked into mum's room and saw her all dressed up for work, her suitcase packed up beside her. "Water, love?" I handed it out to her and she took it and had a sip of it. "How did you know I was thirsty?" she asked me with a smile. "Just did." I replied, smiling.

"Thank you very much for that." OK, my heart's pounding a bit fast, is it maybe she found out about my so-called "prank" in school today? "Just letting you know that I'll be out of town for a couple days. It's another red-eye flight again. There's money on table for pizza, you have my number to call me for emergencies and spare key's at the flowerpot if you left yours."

Whew! Thank God, I thought I was gonna get grounded for life! "No bother, mum." I said, smiling with glee. Cheesy. "And before you go out, make sure you turn on the alarm." Mum said, I forgot about the alarm, we haven't been using it for a while.

As mum walks down the stairs to the front door, I gave her the courtesy of letting me bring down her bag while sipping on my water. That's multi-tasking to you! "Here, I'll take it to the car for you." I said. "No, don't worry about it. Thanks for that, I'll call you when I'm at my stops."

"You have a safe journey, alright?" I said, giving her a hug. "No probs, big guy." She said, this is a good time to exchange insults; we do this sort of thing all the time. "Anytime, big-wee mama (!)" Hahahaha, the giggles came out of her! "I'm your big-wee mamma, is that right?" she asked, sarcastically. I replied in a Bugs Bunny voice "Yea, you ain't as tall as you ever was, doc!"

We waved goodbye to each other as she jumps in the car, starts her up and drive off. It's really cool to see my mum walk over to her car to work smiling because working as a flight attendant 24/7 is a bitch. Wait, she's out for two days?

That means I'm home alone!!! PARTY ON!!! But what can I do for tonight? How about I ring Zara up to see if she wants to hang out? Yeah, I can do that! Just need to find my phone...where could it be?

Going over to the cubby hole, I picked up my schoolbag and managed to find my phone. Looking at the date and time, it read

Right...dialling her...thinking about a good time for her to drop by..."Hello?" Zara asked. "Hey, it's Jake." I said. "Hey, wassup?" "Hi, just checking to see what you're up to tonight?" "Nothing much, why?" "I was just wondering if you'd like to come up to my place tonight." "I'd love to! Yeah, of course! What time?" "Was thinking about 8?" "8 sounds fine. I'll just get dressed and I'll see you at 8!" "Nay pwabs!" "Later, babe!" "Laters!"

Awesome, bro! You just got yourself a mate over the house tonight! Better get freshened up if you got a gal coming over!!! After hanging up the phone, I picked up my schoolbag, walked to the stairs, grabbed my water on the way and went to my room.
