The last class of the day. Curt couldn't wait for it to end. He was in the back of the room, and it was dark. The class was watching a movie since their teacher was out sick. Curt stared at the small tv from his seat in the back, while everyone crowded around it. But not Neil and Roland. No, they were too busy becoming new besties. Curt rolled his eyes and thought of something to keep his mind busy
He pulled out his drawing journal and started to draw in it. He was just doodling, not paying much attention now
Suddenly, something hit him in the side of the head. A rolled up piece of paper. He looked over at the boys who threw it. The normal jerks in that class, always throwing things at him. He rolled his eyes and kicked the ball away from him and went back to drawing
"Loser!" They whisper yelled and threw another piece of paper at him. He sighed angrily but calmed down quickly. He kicked the other ball away from him again and continued to draw
One of the boys came over and pulled a chair up to Curt's desk. Curt closed his notebook and turned to face him
"I like your shoes" The guy looked down at Curt's feet. He kept his voice low so that only Curt and the boys could hear him
"Get away from me" Curt gave him a look and tried to turn away from him
The boy grabbed Curt's arm and started to tighten his grip. He pulled Curt close to him, but Curt didn't look at him. He yanked Curt down, so that Curt had to bend over a little
"Tell the teacher you're going to the office because you have to turn some papers in for a different class." He whispered, and shoved Curt away. Him and his friends told the sub that he had to go pick some stuff up for the gym teacher
Curt already knew what this meant, but there was no way of getting out of it. He slumped back in his desk and sighed to himself. He stood up and walked up to the substitute. He told her what he had to, and she let him go. He calmly walked towards the bathroom, and one of the boys came up from behind him and grabbed Curt by the back of the shirt and pushed him into the bathroom, where the other 2 boys were
"Robbie told me you had quite the mouth on you. Guess we're gonna have to fix that" The boy who sat by Curt in the class only moments before, walked up to him. He took off his jacket and set it on the sink
He snapped his fingers, and instantly, the other 2 were holding Curt by each arm. He tried to get away but their hold wasn't breaking any time soon. The main kid smiled at Curt as he balled up one fist

The boys came back in the room, but no one paid attention to them. They all had smug looks and sat down in their chairs at the back of the room
"Alright, pack up, its almost time to go" The sub turned the movie off and someone turned a light on
Neil and Roland were still talking but stopped while they packed up. Neil turned around to find Curt and talk to him really quick, but noticed he wasn't in his desk. He tapped Roland and pointed to his empty seat and they exchanged looks
"I don't think he's the type to ditch" Neil said under his breath, and tried to think of where he could've possibly gone. Curt's backpack was still by the chair, so it wouldn't have made sense for him to ditch
"Maybe he's just late coming back. He might've gone to the bathroom" Roland offered some ideas
The bell rang, and everyone flooded out of the class. Neil and Roland took a little longer than usual to get their things. Curt rushed into the class, looking away from them and grabbed his things and tried to leave just as fast. Roland stood in front of him
"Excuse me" Curt said quietly, looking down
"What happened?" Roland tried to ask, and crossed his arms
"None of your business" Curt snapped and went around him and left the room
Roland and Neil looked at each other with the same look, and followed Curt out of the room and down the hall. He stuffed his backpack into his locker and grabbed 2 books. He then went into the sea of adolescents and went through the door to get to his bus as quickly as possible
"I'll give you a ride home if you want" Roland said to Neil, as Roland met up with another friend who was already riding with Roland
"I don't want to impose or anything" Neil was in shock. This seemed too good to be true. This had to be a prank
"You're not. You're actually pretty cool, Neil. Besides, I have some things to ask about class and all that" Roland playfully elbowed him and chuckled
Neil smiled and nodded and headed towards Roland's car with his other friend. The three of them hit it off great

Curt stared out of the bus window his entire bus ride home, holding back tears. His face hurt, and his lip was still bleeding. He got off on a different stop and took a longer route home. He didn't want to face his family right now. He had to calm himself down
After walking for about a mile, he finally reached his house. He dug around his pocket for his key, and unlocked the front door. He closed the door behind him, and took his shoes off and set his books on the front entry way counter
"How was school?" A voice came from a different room. He knew who that was. His cousin, who was always at his house. When he was there, it usually meant his parents were going to be gone for a few days. They were gone quite a bit. Almost every week
"Fine" He yelled back and went straight for his room. But his cousin walked out of the spare room and crossed his arms. Curt knew he was staring at him, so he turned around
"Who did that to your face?" His cousin walked over to him, noticing the fresh cuts and bruises
"Your little friends" Curt said quickly and turned around and opened his bedroom door, but his cousin closed it from behind Curt
"I need names" He made Curt turn around to face him
"Doesn't matter" Curt laughed and shook his head
"It does" His cousin kept his calm
"No, it doesn't. You're not going to do anything about it. You're David Vanian. Everyone loves you, and you're not going to spoil your little reputation by helping me" Curt rolled his eyes and walked into his room and slammed the door from behind himself
David sighed and went back to his own room. He hated seeing Curt hurt. He threw a pen at the wall in frustration, it was the only small thing he could find. He sat down on the guest bed and stared at himself in the mirror. He looked extra weird lately, he's been wearing black lipstick for about a month now. It's his signature thing. But he needed more
He rushed to Curt's room and barged in. Curt was laying on his bed, staring up at his ceiling. He slowly turned his head to look at David
"Help me with my hair" David said and left the room immediately
Curt groaned and got up. He always helped David with anything. It didn't matter, he would do it. He walked to the guest bedroom and David held a box of hair dye out to him. But it was straight bleach. Then he sat down on the edge of the bed and draped a towel around his shoulders and brushed his black hair
"You want me to bleach your hair?" Curt looked at him through the mirror, holding the box
"No no, just a strip of it" David nodded, his eyes widening with excitement
Curt shook his head and shrugged. He opened the box and put the gloves on. He grabbed all the hair that David wanted to bleach, and put the product on it, and pulled it through
"Box says to wait about an hour, but if you want it whiter, leave it in longer" Curt said on his way out of David's room. He closed the door and David looked at himself, tilting his head, admiring the new strip of blonde
