We were caught for good. I can't believe we made it this far and now we are done. I slowly turn around and I see the cop pointing a gun at us.
"Wow, you guys are hiding here."
"Huh," I said confused.
"Wait!," Mark says. You are the cop who helped us escape jail!!!"
"Wait, what," I say really surprised.
How did i fail to notice that?
"Yes, I am, and you guys are very lucky that it was me who spotted you here," the cop said.
"Yeah, so you're not gonna turn us in?,"Mark said looking relieved.
"No of course not, you guys have to hide and stay here for a while. Make sure you don't get caught. There are cops everywhere on the watch out looking for both of you. Try to stay here until there isn't a lot of cops looking for u guys. It's very dangerous for u guys to ever be out these days."
"Ok, thank you so much for everything you have done for us," I say very relived.
"No problem, just stay safe. I need to go before anyone gets suspicious."
We go under the spot and just as we closed it another cop came.
"Is everything alright over here," the other cop says.
"Yeah, I didn't find anything. I was just coming out."
"I heard you talking, like if you were speaking to someone," the other cop says suspiciously.
"Yeah I was talking cuz there are some nasty ass rats here and I stepped on one of them," the cop said trying to make that story believable.
"Hahaha, you never fail to make me laugh. Ok let's go before the commander comes and kicks our ass for taking too long."
"Ok let's go."
We heard footsteps getting softer each second until we didn't hear any.
"That was a close one," I whisper while sighing.
"Yeah, we have to be careful and quicker next time cuz every second counts."
"Yeah," I say back.
We stayed there in silence for what seemed like 3 hours but it was only about 30 min. Then we hear loud footsteps coming this way toward the room. What if the cop got caught talking to us and the other cop saw us but acted like he didn't know? I feel like we are caught. Then I heard the footsteps stop right in front of the secret spot. Then someone came and slowly opened the secret door. I closed my eyes too scared to see who it was.
"You guys can come out now."
It was Stella!!! I was so relieved and happy. I literally got out and gave her a big long hug.
"Haha someone is so excited to see me," Stella said with a warm smile.
"How did you know we would be here," I say still hugging her.
"Cuz I knew you guys were smart enough to find a good place to hide at."
"Thanks to Mark," I say smiling.
Then I go up to Mark the give him a hug because of all my happiness at the moment. I then realized what i just did and quickly backed away.
"Oh, I-I'm so sorry, I..."
"Its fine," he says. "I was happy at the moment too... but not that happy," he says with a chuckle.
I got so embarrassed! I felt my face start to heat up.
"Who wants something to eat," Stella says breaking the silence.
"Me," I say quickly so I don't embarrass myself anymore.
We go downstairs and Stella gets us some sandwiches. They were pretty good. It was silent the whole time, so it was very awkward.
I then started looking at Mark while day dreaming. He had such beautiful eyes. I then saw him looking at me so weirdly.
"What? Why are you staring at me like that," Mark said feeling awkward.
"Oh I... umm... it's cuz I ummm... I... thought i saw a spider on your hair!!!," I say knowing it was the dumbest thing I could've said.
"Riiight," he said looking at me right in the eye.
I quickly look down. What is wrong with me!!! Why do I keep embarrassing myself like this! I bet Mark is thinking I'm so weird. Ugh, I need to stop being so awkward. Then suddenly the door bell rings again.
"Go hide in the room across from the bathroom thats over there in the right", Stella quickly tells me and Mark. "I will go check who it is."
We quickly make our way to the room and hide in the closet. I feel so awkward being in silence with Mark.
"Sooo..." I say trying to make it less awkward. "Who do you think it is?"
"Probably just Daniel, but we never know what to expect so we have to always be careful and cautious."
Then the door for the room opens.
"It's all okay... it's just Daniel..." you guys can come back now," Stella says, then she leaves the room.
We get out the closet and leave and see Daniel and Stella talking.
"Wait, so did they get suspicious?," Daniel says looking mad and worried.
"Not really," Stella replies.
"Damn they shouldn't be at my fucken place while I'm not here... especially that they searched it too. Like who the fuck do they think they are," Daniel says angrily!
"It's okay... everything is good now," Stella says trying to calm him down.
"Okay," he says and then sees us. "Oh thank God they didn't find you! I would've been in big trouble!"
"Yeah we are sorry for letting you go through all of this," I say feeling bad.
"Nah don't say that. A friend will do anything for another friend in need."
"Ay thanks man for everything," Mark says giving him a smile.
"Anything for u bro," Daniel replies.
"Yeah, you won't have to worry for too long cuz me and Riley will go and try to run somewhere else in less than 3 weeks. When there aren't too much cops looking for us we will be long gone outta here," Mark says.
"Wait really!," I say surprised.
"You don't have too be in a rush," Daniel says laughing.
"Don't worry, I know in the inside your like when the hell are they going to leave," Mark says laughing hard and Daniel joins the laughter.
"Hahaha you read my mind," Daniel says still laughing with Jake. "But Mark I'm serious you can stay here for as long as you want. No need to be in a hurry."
"Thanks bro."
"No problem."
"Daniel are you hungry or do you want anything to drink?," Stella politely asks him.
"No thank you Stella. Also, Mark and Riley I need to tell you guys something."
"What," I say curious to know what he will say.
"I will be throwing a party here next Friday," Daniel says with a big smile.
